@@kodiakulv5148 It's also why they're screens don't always agree. Like when somebody nearly gets clipped by a car on their screen but goes flying on the other person's screen. Here's hoping they can up the tickrate for GTAVI servers. GTA net code has always been pretty good, but could be a lot better. I've also noticed the position of objects like a detached car part or any movable scenery is local and not shared with the server. So different for everybody.
@AGenericMoron3 жыл бұрын
If anyone doesn't understand why GTA can't just give every player exact updates on everything at all times: there's a cap to the sheer amount of information that the server should be sending and receiving for every client and how much each player needs to know about the state of all the objects in the game world and to what precision. Go over this limit and you cause problems. You can't just tell everyone exactly what is happening at all times in the most minute detail, or you end up having to send so much information that by the time it's all loaded into your game it's out of date. So they game needs to decide what is important, and only send each player the bare minimum that they need to know. The more players, the more elements to keep track of, the more exact you want your information to be, the more data it requires as a whole, and to stop the problem of distributing more data than can be processed, you either cut down on what you send or how frequently you send it. Picture this: you're driving down the streets of Los Santos, but instead of a car you're driving an entire open-topped Skyrim house with all the contents of each room, every loose physics object, and maybe even the values of the stuff in each container being accounted for, all updating their positions per frame according to what physics is saying should happen to them. Now you drive your house past another player, and they see everything in your house hurtle past them, all rendered in and updating in real time. Because there is so much junk that this second player needs to be shown by the game, all of which is updating on a very frequent tick rate, everything is probably clipping through everything else and shooting off in random directions only to rubberband back to their origin, like the chaotic contents of a misbehaving Viscera Cleanup Detail biohazard bin. Now imagine someone else is doing the same, and your house t-bones their house at 200mph. Physics happens, and the server cries because it has to track the interaction of all that stuff in that moment. So the more details you have in the game, the more you have to send. GTA already has a lot of stuff to track. The cars locations, orientations, speed and statistics. Any warped geometry of damaged cars, accounting for loose or missing components. Other vehicles, the traffic, the various NPCs and police. Players, their location, animations, status, complete with damage markers. Projectiles and other sources of damage. Damaged scenery, signs and lampposts. A whole host of other things. And you have to send this data to all sixteen or 32 players in the server to keep their game up to date, including returning that original player's data so they can know when something from the game world interacts with them. And you need to do the same for all the other players, all simultaneously. It's a lot to track, and a lot to cause potential errors, issues, and other such nonsense. You have to accept that there are limitations. And obviously, as we've seen, Rockstar's servers are not the most robust systems ever, but for an anarchic criminal sandbox driving game, they do enough well enough. They know better than to try and be whatever Star Citizen thinks it is.
@StarkRaven593 жыл бұрын
@@kodiakulv5148 Now, I'm no expert, but I believe what you mean is low latency and high tick rate? From what I remember tick rate is the amount of times the server updates per second, so more updates create a smoother experience.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.
