Gabe, a lot of great advice here I think I would add just one thing to consider. An important consideration is whether or not you wish to accommodate golfers who have the opposite. “Hand-ness” from you. If you expect to have both right and left-handed players frequently your build should probably accommodate that. This is a factor in how to manage the available space, launch monitor selection, for example, the Eye Mini or the Eye Mini Lite, on ground or overhead, etc. That said, I would recommend that you build it for yourself first and others as needed. I know that sounds selfish but I have used mine hundreds of times and have had lefties here only twice. It was awkward but I could accommodate them.

#1 is tough with the Uneekor sale trying to decide between a Protee VX and XO2 monitor. They both have their pluses and minuses.

When selecting a launch monitor be honest with yourself and decide if putting is important to you and the experience you’ll have in the sim and include that as part of your launch monitor requirements

I have to echo the don't go cheap on the enclosure aspect. I got an enclosure from a cheaper store and I've hated it from the get go. It doesn't look good and the pipes are exposed and I've had some close calls. It's the one thing I wish I could get a mulligan on.

I’m going cheap enclosure but I feel like I’m pretty handy and I’m going to build it myself. I guess we will see how it goes lol.

What size ceiling would you recommend? I have 10ft ceilings and don’t know if it’s tall enough
@LetsPlayThru3 ай бұрын
10ft should be ok 👌
@bluhringvt9817 күн бұрын
@@LetsPlayThru 10 Feet is more than enough. I have a simulator in my basement with 8' 11 ceilings and have only had one issue - one of my friends is 6'7 and can't swing a driver. Other than that, it works perfectly. So if you're under 6'3, anything above 9 Feet will be plenty.

Two mistakes I made was getting a cheap hitting net. After close to one thousand shots(which was a few days worth of hitting), the ball ripped through the net and put a nice dent into my garage wall. The net was like 100 bucks. I’ve upgraded to a much heavier durable hitting net but might even just buy an impact screen. The other mistake was the hitting mat. I urge people to spend the money to get a fiberbuilt or other top quality injury prevention hitting mats. Elbow tendinitis is no joke! I’m in the process of building and buying a gaming pc that’ll last me many years. As the requirements for most golf sim programs are pretty demanding to run via gaming pc…

I bought my nets from vevor for $30 a piece, and they have withstood a baseball since my simulator also doubles as a batting cage.

I have a mevo+ w/ pro package and it works great in my backyard setup, that I only get to use for half a year being that I’m up in Canada. I don’t have the space inside unless I take up my whole living room and…let’s just say somebody wouldn’t be pleased with that. I’m thinking of going over to skytrak+.. I don’t know any left handed golfers and I do have a room that I can swing in with a little bit of ball flight to my net. I just worry about the numbers. Every review I’ve watched has the skytrak lower on the accuracy ratings than other LMs. Anyone have experience with them both?

I thought a 9’ ceiling would be enough but not with a 2” hitting mat if you’re 6’ 1” tall . I’m now moving my set up into a garage bay with a 12’ vaulted ceiling because I have grazed the ceiling in the past and it gets in your head and afraid to hit a driver if your swing plane isn’t perfect.
@bluhringvt9817 күн бұрын
I have a 9 Ft ceiling and have had 20-30 people that have hit on my simulator. The only person that had an issue was 6'7 - and even he could hit irons (driver hit the ceiling joists). So if you're under 6'2 and have what i would call a normal swing (i.e., not reaching for the sky), you won't have a problem (even with mats) at 9 feet.

I disagree with the sim bay. You can make a great hitting bay for wayyyy cheaper. You just need to do your research! I built mine for super cheap and it did awsome.

I went DIY and it cost me around 10k. Got a GC3 on Black Friday 2 years ago. 6.5k after tax, Carls Premium screen, EMT pipe and enclosure cloth was 1.5k. 1k on a projector and used gaming laptop from FB marketplace. $500 on a hitting mat. Another $500 on miscellaneous stuff (extension cords, HDMi cord, zip ties, carpet for the hitting area, lamp for hitting area. The hardest part was the enclosure, it’s a pain in the butt to do yourself. Just buy a kit with everything included. It’s worth the headache and will look better

I guess i have 2 things. First. Disagree on screen and enclosure, buying pre done is a massive rip-off…massive. Easy, but a rip-off. I have 8x10.5 and have $600 into it, including screen. Its 1” steel tubing with a 4.5 foot surround. Its stronger than Gabes click together for $2000-3000. Do some research on youtube, vids all over showing how to do any size and its easy. Screen is made by a golf sim company and withstands ball speeds up to 180 mph. Looks like Gabes, stronger than Gabes and cost 1/4 of Gabes. Second is projector. All your info is great but dont forget about gimble. 4 way gimble is paramount especially if you are mounting to the side. Picture may fit screen but cant be squared up. Bonus. Mats are a dime a dozen and bad ones are everywhere. Money also does not equal good or right for you. I agree with Gabe that 15 mm base or more is a must, its the turf that then seperates good from bad. I have a $500 mat and hate it, grabs club on anything not perfectly struck. Club doesnt glide or bounce thru, it grabs. Bought a $200 mat rated at 150,000 shots and love it. Do tons of research and keys words are forgiving, easy on wrists and elbows, realistic feedback.
