Yep, I have those Wilson wedges and the Max Milled. The wilson staff have such a nice soft forging and less rounded shape. And I dont know why exactly but the staff wedges go like almost 10 yards longer than others Ive played at the same loft. Usually Im 52 = 100 yds but with the wilsons 54 is 100. They feel better but the max spins more. Curious why you selected the TS1m over the ts3. Edit: Never mind, Stu knows what I was thinkin

After promising myself a new set of irons this years I found myself near years end still playing a set of Malty TE Forged from ten years ago. Feel wise a lot of things outperformed them but in actual shots nothing was better other than a little distance lost due to their traditional lofts. I hated P790's but loved the 770's. I liked the T150's from Titleist a lot and then your video about the Maltby TS3's dropped. So I ordered one to try out. Yep, ended up buying the set. I still wouldn't put them in Mizuno blade territory for absolute feel but they feel as good as almost anything else and are as long as anything in their category. They're as forgiving as anything I've ever hit and easy to hit any shot a mere mortal like me is capable of hitting all for literally half the price or less of anything else that will compete with them performance wise. I won't say their performance can't be matched but for the price their performance can't be matched. And, seriously, pictures do not do them justice. They are a beautiful set of clubs and this is from a guy who is a function first golfer. Looks don't matter to me but if they play great and look great then I'm not going to complain about that.

I wonder if he only wanted to do 1 set of Maltby's and the TS1 IM were the choice for that range. Otherwise I'm sure he could've done 2 or 3 sets of Maltby's. It also helps give the viewer more choices across multiple brands.

Stepping in here as I too was hoping to see the TS3 somewhere in the lineup. My assumption about the TS3's is that they don't necessarily fit into 1 category or mold which isn't a bad thing. They could easily fit in each category that is listed and rank at the top. I don't think Gabe's changed his mind about them but maybe he just couldn't define them as 1 particular type of club. I play them and I can't put my finger on where they would fall. They're player's-ish, they're not really blades, but look like they could be played by low hdcp players, they have great game improvement qualities but aren't in any way GI irons by their aesthetics. Also, they aren't hollow but could just squeak into the "players distance" category with the lower CG and 1-2° slightly stronger lofts from more traditional irons. All of these qualities are what makes them so dang good! My $.02 😁

Don't let their lack of notoriety throw you off. They've been around for over 40 years and have a design and innovation pedigree as good as any brand. They just choose to stay out of the limelight. Ask any seasoned club builder and they should be very familiar with Maltby and it's almost unheard-of that any will speak poorly of them. They truly are a diamond in the rough company.

Hello Gabe. It has been an interesting year. Coming off a shoulder replacement surgery that has kept me off the golf course until later in the year. I had a wonderful surprise Christmas morning. Santa brought me a Garmin Approach s70. I went out yesterday to one of the city golf courses and played a quick 9 holes. Only my second round this year. The golf was +10, not bad, not great but the watch is amazing. Big learning curve as to knowing all the thing that it will do and how to get that information displayed. Being in my late 60's, kind of techy not really. Do you know of a good KZbin channel that shows a good in-depth how to video on the s70. Great year watching your channel. Hope you have an amazing new year.

Yes. Very good overall shafts. about 10 grams heavier but same flight and spin profile as the max

Which would you suggest between Maltby TS3 or Maltby TS1-IM… looking for distance and feel.

You’d literally need to try them yourself… They are about the same distance between them both, however feel wise I have seen other reviews directly comparing the two and the TS3 is more often favored. However, I am partial to looks and ts1-IM just look way prettier in my opinion. You should also check out the TS4’s. They look like they would be difficult to hit but they actually tested slightly more forgiving based on GolfWorks themselves (though the difference was so negligible that it would not be noticeable)

Hi Dale, sorry it is confusing. In this video I wanted to specifically recommend clubs for particular handicaps. The TS3s are indeed my favorite clubs of the year, but sort of walk the line between players distance and players irons. I should have explained it better in the video.

FYI “JPX 925” isn’t nearly descriptive enough. There are 4 models in the JPX 925 lineup and they all do drastically different things. You talking the Forged, Hot Metal Pro? Who knows! Also, nobody should buy a $600 putter.

If youre going to spend $ on a club it should be a putter you love. Gets used the most and most important club when it comes to lowering your score. But yeah, $600 is high for me but lots of golfers have a $ is no issue thing
