It’s cool. I like it. That being said…. In 1978, my mom, Dad, and I went to the RCA store to buy a TV. It was like a piece of furniture. Built in speakers. Lift up the top on one side and it had a turn table. No remote control, but it was a color tv. It had 2 dials: one for vhf channels and the other for uhf channels. It cost $3,000. In 1978. My mom was unsure about it. My dad decided to buy it when the sales guy said, “Pay the money and get this tv and you’ll never need to buy another one again ever.” I’m not sayin…. But I’m just sayin…. Be careful about the “never need another one again” words. 😂

You are right, TVs are such a racket! Remember 3D TVs? I’m not sure what the latest and greatest even is anymore. OLED 8k maybe? Crazy.

Costco $129 rangefinder. I've used it for over 3 years with zero problems. I also put it up vs expensive name brand rangefinders and still wouldn't replace it.

Gabe, it was great to hear that the surgery went well. I pray your recovery will be very quick. Question...do you prefer the ease of use of a watch GPS / phone GPS or using a rangefinder? I currently use my Samsung Galaxy watch with Golf pad app.

Thanks David. So far so good. I’m able to put a little weight on it today. As for your question, I like them both. But I use a rangefinder 100% of rounds and my watches about 50% at the moment.

Gabe, With the knob on the side of the rangefinder, will a magnetic strap work with a cobalt?

I ordered this to have it in my bag. If there was a magnet it probably wouldn’t float. I don’t need a magnet as my bag has a safe place to put it. I wouldn’t want to accidentally leave it on the cart. Also their lifetime warranty is something you do not find anymore. This shows me that they stand behind their product.

Maven optics are superb value-for-money due to being direct-to-consumer and their glass is well-regarded. Cobalt is the brand they created to market to golfers. Bushnell optics are almost always a step below in quality. For rangefinders, I am guessing they both use the same lasers. Maven's website even says they use lasers from Laser Technology Inc., but I don't know about Bushnell.

I haven’t had it long enough to be able to tell you about battery definitively. But I would assume it wouldn’t take up too much juice - at least not any more than a similar unit with same specs.

I'm happy for you that you're healthy again and back on the course. Too bad it doesn't have a on/off button for slope. Definitely a no way for me. I honestly don't know why any manufacturer would even make two anymore.

@@LetsPlayThru oh really that's awesome. I took it as a slope model being exclusively slope. The one thing I've noticed that with the older Bushnell's like the pro 1M is that the Optics are so much better with those than the new ones and that is so disappointing because my with my Pro1M, I can find the pin so much faster than the Pro XE because the lens is bigger. I don't have the slope option on mine which I would love to have but it's going to be a downgrade visually.

What is the best way to pack the Q-6 Slope Rangefinder when flying to play golf? I found out that it needs to be in a check-in bag ie Golf Travel Case. I am just wondering what is the best way to securely pack it away so it does not get damaged. What do you recommend?

I purchased the Q-6 Slope to test it out. I am just wondering now because it's not rechargeable if the battery will be an issue having to replace it throughout the season.

Rangefinder batteries generally last many months, even years. Keep one extra in your bag and don’t sweat it.

I am sure you said that will be your last round before surgery. Am I correct and if so how did you do? Rain has eased off here in Thailand.

Hey John, thanks for asking. I ended up finishing 2nd in my division. I was really happy with the way I played, especially the second round where I had no double bogeys and no lost balls. I was only two shots short of winning so next year I hope to take home the title. I need a better parking spot!! Glad to hear the monsoon has stopped. Have you been out to play?

I can understand your point. Rechargeable batteries are nice for sure, but flip side is when you go to turn it on and it doesn’t fire up it’s a real pain in the butt. Has happened to me quite a few times with my Z82. Not sure if it’s easier to carry another battery or take it in and out of the house to charge. I guess it just depends on what you prefer.

Thanks for the review, I like the design and features of the Cobalt Q-6 Slope. Though I'm leaning towards the Bushnell Pro X3, because of the magnet and the ability to switch from red and black on the display.

Never using a rangerfinder before, is the magnet feature a must have?

@@brandonkriegerKNSS It depends, if you ride in carts primarily I would say it's a great feature. As the range finder will magnetically adhere to the bars of the cart. I've put it on and gone over some large bumps and rough parts and it's stayed attached. If you're primarily walking it's probably not a feature that's necessary for your play style. Having it within access on the cart just makes it a bit easier to access rather than having to pull it out of your bag. Rangefinders can be a major purchase so it's important to understand what your needs are. Go feel them out in person and see what works best for you.

my only question now@@brentdnowicki is the battery going to be an issue when traveling and playing golf. Trying to find a CR2 battery if the battery runs out versus being able to recharge it like other rangefinders.

Yes, it worked as expected. Interestingly it gives both the plays like distance and the slope angle rather than two distances (actual & plays-like) which I like better and not as confusing IMO.

Don’t like the wheel on the side, would prevent you from putting on a Stik it magnetic mount. The XE has one built in I think. This review seems a bit forced, like there was a check that came along with this rangefinder lol.
