Seems to me Chuck wanted a restart of a new life. He probably had a bag of fresh shoes and clothes. He walks off into the forest with the bag then strips his old clothes off, washes off in the stream, then puts on completely brand new clothes that dont have his scent or they are clothes from goodwill with someone else's scent. He may be running from his family or maybe he owes money to dangerous people and hes faking his death. If he's not found in a certain amount of time he would then be presumed dead.

All he had to do was say I have a family emergency I have to deal with. & He could've even radio'd another guide to finish for him. But his actions were TRASH & they shouldn't be getting blamed!! Disclaimer: I am not arguing what charles did was right. Now that that is out of the way that stroy is a good example and reminder that you need to be careful how you push people in this world of the customer is always right. Civilization, law, and order are great and have made wonderful changes, but have also allowed people to life under rose colored shade that keep them from remembering that the laws nature and the laws of civilization are at odds. If you are going to really push a person by being like the writer referred to as a "Karen" be 100% sure you can back that up if the other party no longer cares for the rules of society. No matter what the courts or authorities do, they will never undelo physical or mental trauma, and they will never be able to bring justice to death. Also your actions have consequences whether you like what those consequences are or not. If you can't put your money where your mouth is in that moment physically bit your tongue, it will do you more favors than you relaize.

I actually feel really bad for Charles in story 2. Boss forwards probably the worst news of his life while he's on the job, and then two bratty Karens lose their minds at him. Obviously he handled things wrong too. He probably could have said family emergency or something and promised reimbursement. Honestly no one in that story did the right thing. And insisting the man be fired (BEFORE HE EVEN TOUCHED HER) is just wild to me. I've never wished someone instantly lose their job over something like that. Poor guys whole life just fell apart. That story was frustrating and sad, not scary.

In story 2, the girls had every reasons to sue the careless and incompetent woman who was the Hiking company's Head. First of all, it's every companies rule to NEVER communicate bad personal news to an employee WHILE being on duty and not until he's in a safe place within the company's premises (because you can never predict how a person will react to hearing the news.) It's called practicing TACT in every company's handbook. Especially NOT if said employee is in the wild and other people's lives (company's clients) fully depend on the employee to survive and safely return. That is third world level of incompetence and irresponsible recklessness. Secondly, a company is always responsible for the type of person they hire as an employee. If you hire an unstable sociopath with all sorts of problems in their private life that everyone in the company is evidently aware of, and then you place your clients lives and safety at the mercy of this sociopath, it's also the legal responsibility of the company. They should have sued for emotional trauma and compensatory damages, including an aggravated assault and murder attempt, and they would have won. There were plenty of witnesses. Charles might have done some jail time and be forced to get psychiatric help. The dude seriously needs it.
