Ladies, if you plan to ride public transport, you need to learn how to do what Tyra Banks says she would do in New York on the subway there. Mind you, Tyra is a supermodel now, but she started out as an aspiring model in New York City... Riding the subway... In full makeup... Dressed up... For her go-sees (model talk for job interview). She says you need to learn to put on your crazy face. Don't be afraid to cause a scene. If someone creeps you out, act like a nut- it has saved my butt and my daughter's butt several times in the busy city we used to live in. The driver will come to your aid. At the very least, the creep will leave you alone thinking there's an easier, less noisy target somewhere else.

I felt for these kids too. I've sat and talked with many kids in foster care when I was a tutor in college- I tutored kids in high school literature classes. Many of them were ignored by schools because staff didn't want to get involved. It's frustrating and infuriating. Calling CPS only compounded the problem. I wish there was a better way to help kids.

I'm sure thankful that my biological family is very loving and now my family has grown. While there is some tension between my mother and biological siblings with my maternal grandma (she wanted to raise me but my mother did not want this), I received nothing but love from everyone. I am truly blessed to have been raised by a loving family who cheered me on my journey "home". My mother could not have chosen a better family to raise me and for that, I will always be grateful. Just as I don't call my "baby" brother (he's in his twenties and near a foot taller than me) my adopted brother I don't distinguish my adopted and biological family except explanation purposes such as this. My biological mother was a projects breeder. While my adoptive family is the most amazing, outsiders made my life hard. My sister and I did attempt to find out biological family (because we know we have siblings and need medical history) until we got in touch with an uncle. He told us to stop searching. He said that the family are either hardcore drug addicts that will use us OR they are murderers in prison for long sentences. Needless to say, we have stopped out search.

The longest 'relationship' was with an alcoholic abuser who she met while he was drunk and homeless. He beat her, stole from her and cheated on her. She kept him around for TWENTY YEARS. When he died, she started screwing his toothless, unemployed friend. That guy was just a few years older than I am. The lady with alzheimers...something similar happened to a girl I went to school with. She has a non verbal son and he was making all these noises which she ignored for a minute. He usually didn't go on like that so she looked into the next room and there stood an old man in his underwear holding a blanket. She grabbed her gun and started screaming for him to get out and he kept walking towards her holding the blanket out not saying a word. He reminded her of her son with certain mannerisms etc n she realized something was wrong. In the mean time her other son had called the cops. It was a man with dementia who wandered off. He was returned to his family, but this poor man was walking with a blanket looking for help and didn't have the ability to tell anyone. Had he come across someone less level headed or someone who didn't recognize he wasn't mentally ok, he probably wouldn't be here.
