1st girl was not wise. Told a random man in the woods: - She was alone - Had no weapons - Initiated the conversion - Told unrealistic lies Continued to the same predictable spot to wash in but a towel. Then she didn't even carry the tazer ON her, she leaves it in the tower while she wanders the woods. Man, woman whatever, don't do anything she did. Sounds like she didnt learn much from it all either.

Fun fact: Fire is a natural part of the forest ecosystem as it clears under brush regularly to prevent build up of fuel that leads to extremely hot and dangerous super fires as well as returning nutrients to the soil for new growth. Native Americans even recognized this and purposely started fires. the "smokey the bear" campaign is the biggest contributor to this buildup of brush and the forest service inability to keep up with regular clearings of the forest has lead us to what we are seeing today. A rash of dangerous super fires.

I hate poking holes in good stories, but the second one kind of jumped the shark for me. He jumped from a watch tower?? Most watch towers are at least 100-150 feet. There's no way you'd even think of jumping from one, much less be fine enough to run afterwards. And he describes noticing the stun gun when he saw sparks dance in the air? If you've ever even been around a stun gun, you know the FIRST thing you notice when they're used is the extremely loud pops it makes when it discharges. We used to set them off around our female friends just to make them jump and yelp because it's SO sudden and loud, they couldn't help but be startled every time. I just have a hard time believing that someone who had been lunged at with a stun gun remembers the sparks, but doesn't mention the noise that would likely be what stuck out MOST at the time and very likely startle him.

@itselvxiia27394 ай бұрын
@@sheyennemerritt3215 I’m actually NOT one of those people who think there’s danger lurking around every corner. The bear vs man comes to mind. I’ll take my chances with the man. But I’m also not stupid. I don’t go into the woods alone when hiking because I think a man is out to get me. My first thought is wildlife. That’s not paranoia, that’s life. That being said, I’m also not gonna go out to the middle of the woods, give my entire life story to some random man, tell him how alone I am, where I am and then tell him: oh! And I have no weapons! Then proceed to continue back to the same damn spot almost everyday and CONTINUE to argue with this person I got bad vibes from to begin with and remind them over and over: lol! I have bear spray and a radio! What exactly was she trying to accomplish here? She even stated her FIRST encounter with him was unhinged. She noticed him FIRST as she got to the river, not the other way around! Me? I would’ve turned my ass back around and waited till the person left! No exchange would’ve happened, because it didn’t need to happen! And if her story was she was startled by his presence because he just appeared or didn’t see him, i could understand, but it didn’t. She still went forward. As a woman, that thought wouldn’t have even crossed my mind! I would’ve have quietly backed away, said to myself “I’ll come back later” and be done with it! I was out there to take a bath, not make friends. I’m not about to tempt fate while trying to bathe in the middle of the woods. I also would’ve have phoned the ranger station IMMEDIATELY and told them about the exchange. If the police or rangers downplayed it or ignored it, here’s what my response would’ve been: welp! Then this isn’t gonna work. I’m leaving IMMEDIATELY and you can find someone else. So yeah, that is me “manning up.” Because a man in that situation (at least a smart one) would’ve outweighed the pros and cons, been careful with their words and probably stayed out of sight all together to avoid any confrontation on the slight chance the other person was looking for trouble. This wasn’t a populated hiking trail with people coming and going; it was a fire watch tower out in the remote wilderness on thousands of acres. It’s why they plan supply routes and days because it’s remote. That alone should tell you to have weapons! Forget other humans. Bears, moose, elk, cats, wolves, the list goes on depending where she was. You startle one of them, you’re in deep 💩. I startled a white-tailed deer once. I didn’t see or hear her, and she me apparently. She wanted to kick me to death because our encounter was too close, so instead of flight, she chose fight. Rare for a deer, but not unheard of. No, I didn’t notice any fawns. And that was just a female deer. Moose? Oh they’re gonna fight! Black bear? Yeah, they mostly run. But mamas don’t! Grizzly? Brown bear? Nah, you’re the next meal. Cats? Hope you like being stalked with nowhere to hide. They climb, crawl and squeeze their way into anything. And mace or other non lethal methods are just fine. I’m all about discouraging before force. But to not have weapons is just plain stupid. P. S.- I would’ve done the EXACT same thing if it were a woman there too. I’ve seen women become MAJORLY unhinged as well. Theres no pass because I’m a female and she’s a female. Also, this whole story read like male rage bait.

Third story: OP in the fire tower did nothing to be ashamed of. He was doing a challenging job and stuck to it. At great personal cost, he didn’t give up when it got tough. He was able to connect with a fellow human being and did his best to get assistance to someone else. The fact that ‘Harold’ was a pathetic, cowardly wimp who betrayed his trust only displays the depravity and inferior character of that sick individual, not the OP. OP has nothing to be ashamed of; he acted with integrity and duty to a fellow human being. And that is likely something ‘Harold’ will never understand or achieve.
@SleepyHollowKnight4 ай бұрын
And to add to something, that ‘Harold’ did exactly what I would’ve done in my cringiest, worst time in MIDDLE SCHOOL. That kid thinks he’s something. Thinks he’s special. I know the exact feeling. Hell, if I had the resources I probably would’ve done the exact same thing in my youth. He’s just there for control, to spin his own narrative onto is spiraling, boring, pathetic life. The best way to do that is to “become the villain” because it’s the easiest path. He really is the stupid one.

Story 2 is one of the best I've heard on this channel in a while. The interesting thing is that the narrator still has this subtle tinge of unreliability. He even said himself how being all alone was messing with him psychologically and how he was seeing things out of the corner of his eye. Still, you have to be pretty crazy to intentionally light something on fire and then convince yourself that it wasn't you, it was actually a group of masked men. That's a whole different level of crazy than seeing shadows in your peripheral vision. I believe he's most likely telling the truth though, and the frustrating reaction of the "authorities" once again proves the adage that no good deed goes unpunished. But whether the story is real or fake, that unreliability is a nice touch that really brings it home. What a mystery too. I wonder how many weird cults are out there doing stuff in the woods for real among all the fake stories and horror fiction about it?

It isn't a real story. That is 100 percent a made up story. Why too many digs are men, sounded like feminist fiction.

I don't listen to sleep, I listen to engage in the stories, and your voice and the way you read is what brings them all alive in my mind. Thank you for what you do, and please don't ever stop!!!!! There's some of us out here who simply adore you!!! ❤

@pencilart19804 ай бұрын
Yeah how stupid is she right? Just trying to have her own quiet experience in the woods? Ridiculous!! She should never have been out there, only men get to do that kind of thing because they are the only ones who can fight off other creepy men! What an idiot she was to think or hope that she could just do her own thing and feel free in nature. She should have known for sure that some loser guy would start stalking her, and should have adjusted her expectations accordingly! And being polite to him and trying to not expect the worst when she initially felt intimidated? What a dunce, she should have ran away screaming in the first instance and left her dreams behind because 'men'. Always men.

I can’t wrap my head around how the girl in the first story didn’t wanna call the guy an incel or misogynist but had no problem throwing the Asperger label around. If you don’t know what autism is, don’t talk about it.
@antsy89944 ай бұрын
And it’s now called being on the spectrum, to be completely accurate. I think the incel and misogynist labels are probably much more accurate. The kind of guy that thinks girls are completely helpless and worthless and not in any way capable of taking care of themselves; even the smallest of things. Must be told to set an alarm to get up for work and be reminded that the stove is hot and not to forget to brush your teeth, morning and night. Like women have lobotomies at maybe 12 and so must be completely coddled for the rest of their life. 🙄

Seriously! She sounds like she's trying to be too tough & comes off very unwise & arrogant. You simply never tell a stranger your alone, unarmed and your exact whereabouts in the middle of nowhere! It's basically inviting trouble. She knew a confrontation would happen at some point. She should've quietly backed away when she first spotted him & came back later to bathe. What women would come half naked to bathe in a secluded forest with a strange man ? Also what in the world would he be doing out there alone anyway ? He could be a murderer, fugitive, looking for trouble. She should have reported this stranger to the rangers after the very first encounter instead of waiting on him to come find her. Just stupid.

First, I love the intro! Second, thank you for reading fire lookout stories that are believable. I'm a fire lookout enthusiast and a horror story enthusiast but I'm so tired of silly, completely unbelievable fire lookout horror stories. I even submitted a scary fire lookout story of my own once only to have the narrator change it to make it "more scary". Keep doing what you're doing. I love your channel!

The man not being believed by his own parents is horrible. Crazy story but if one of my sons told me that I would believe them. I know my sons. Shame on his parents. I have heard true stories similar to what he said.😱 Now he has to live the rest of his life with an arson conviction hanging over his head. That’s very serious. Will affect his employment. His personal life. 😢 Plus the fact that no one believes him and thinks he is a liar!! 😢🫤

The 1st fire lookout story made me slap my forehead about 10 times. Yes, you're a fierce independent woman. Yes, you're strong and capable. But you passed way too many chances up to shut the hell up. Why would you tell some rando you are staying in the woods, ALONE, with no weapons, and you come to that creek naked all the time to bathe?

Theory about the person who ended up getting charged even though they were the victim... Either the authorities are actually involved in trying to kill them and the arson or at the very least closely related or very buddy buddy with the people actually involved this sort of thing actually happens all the time and the victims often get stuck with the charges... Also their family sucks as soon as they are attorney they should not have pled guilty that's a terrible attorney.
