That hurricane katrina story is so, so horrifying and straight up traumatic. This is not the normal kind of creepy content we usually get here on this channel. The situation described reminds me of a war zone. Must have been especially traumatic for the children, to see dead bodies... and the poor child falling into the shallow water... this really shocked me. My grandma has seen dead bodies as a child during WWII (I live in Germany and she grew up next to a large industrial area which was bombarded every night). Understandably, it is still very difficult for her to speak about her experiences. This reminds me a lot of what my grandma tells me, although the circumstances are very different. Just the feeling of helplessness, being on your own.... I hope the family is doing okay now.

Hmm..you look into the eyes of people whose loved ones are effing dead as a result and explain to them that their suffering is bullshit, that its fake and for _them_ to WAKE UP to reality. Btw...your statistics are wrong, according to the American Cancer Society, 1in 5 will die from cancer...which of course is still scary and staggering. However, comparing cancer and COVID are apples and oranges! Though there is not a general "cure" for cancer, the overall survival rate (including all types of cancer) 5 years out *is 70 percent* and that is a HUGE improvement over the past 30 or 40 years. Some cancers are unavoidable but almost HALF are preventable!! So until that magic cure all pill you are wanting is discovered and available if people would take responsibility for their own health and stop or not start smoking, lose weight, not drink alcohol, eat healthy, exercise, etc then almost half if the cancers can be prevented!!

I was there for Hurricane Katrina. I couldn't evacuate because of my job. We were essential personnel. We were horribly underprepared. Everyone was supposed to evacuate. It was bad where we were. Real bad.

Bayou Ghosties I absolutely agree. Some of my family who refused to evacuate were taken to Algiers where they spent over 24 hrs beneath an underpass waiting for buses to come and take them to safety. We had to evacuate the building we were in, but we were stuck there for several days until our employer could find other accommodations. Then they got the paddle boat Cajun Queen or Creole Queen, I can't remember which one it was, for us to live on. It was certainly an experience I could have lived without!

@@julianmitchell5776 Savannah, Ga is rated as THE most haunted city in the United States. It's due to how many massacres the Native Americans died in. Then when the cities and towns began to be built, they built right on top of Indian Burial Ground. We lived there were 2 years and the house was wicked-haunted! My Mom checked at the library and of course, our subdivision was constructed right on top of one. I think it's name was Lake Forrest, and there was a high school my older sisters went to, or something with the word Forrest in it? That house was extremely frightening.

Especially downtown like near the colonial cemetery and river street and stuff like that . They do ghost tours every night because of all the crazy history and sightings and stuff

It was a brand new subdivision, it was small, unfortunately my Dad died very unexpectedly from a broken neck when he was 40 when we lived there. He slipped off the ladder of our above ground pool he had gotten for July 4th. He had plans to build an inground pool, he had always been involved in competitive swimming. How horribly ironic is that? About 5 years ago I was in Savannah with my family and we drove past the house! Guess what? The people that were living there had an inground pool in the same exact spot. I was immediately shocked. It was a very eerie site to see. Then I wanted to get out and knock on the door but I figured that would be like "Ummm....Hi, I used to live here, can I come in and look around, just for memories?" Uhhh....no....too weird?!!!

Hurricane Katrina was a scary time. I was at a birthday party the Friday before and my aunt told us to put on the news because the hurricane looked bad. We left that Sunday. Katrina hit next day. We had water 20 ft above the roof

I am from south Mississippi. And I don't want to doubt the Crowley story but we all have very high water tables down here. I found no houses, at least for sale in the area that have basements. Basements in most cases are not possible down here. The last story however I remember on the news. It was wierd.

My dad was stationed Louisiana in about 92 or so and him and my mother both said the old house they lived in was very haunted and they’d hear heavy boots walking up and down the stairs all night and the doorknobs would shake violently on their own. They didn’t end up staying in that house very long lol

Thank God you didn't have to experience that horrendous nightmare and thank God your friends were ok...and for everyone who made it through...I can't even imagine that horror that people experienced.... About a month ago our city experienced a tornado....of course my neighborhood got hit very severaly...the wind power was unbelievably strong... never seen or heard anything like this...just kept on praying...the generator blew out within minutes....I thought it was a microburst..... after it was over and the sun came out ...I thanked God we made it through without any damages..I walked through my street and neighborhood and the devastation was shocking and unseen before...I was in tears..that's when I was told it was a tornado... Praise God no one lost their lives .... not having electricity for 2 days was rough.... May God show mercy to us during everything that is going on now..

Crowley is small. There really isn't anything to do. They played the purge noise because no one was staying at their homes. It was funny after the fact. I live about 35 to 40 minutes away. Katrina shocked alot of people. I remember crying watching the news. No one thought it would be that bad. We have hurricanes all the time and everything is OK. Then alot of people got screwed over after as well. It was horrible. Please dont walk in the bayou by yourself unless you were born and raised in that area. And I still wouldn't walk it by yourself at that. My friend's cousin just went missing. They think he fell out his boat. No one has found his body.

The woods and swamps are dangerous,even for experienced woodsman/outdoors enthusiasts,always bring a friend or family member and tell someone where you're going,bringing a pistol/rifle is an essential survival tool as well. Be careful out there folks,you never know what you might encounter out in the wild,especially at night.

I'm from New Orleans and spent a night in my attic with a 2 year old and 5 other people. I can guarantee u that was made up. Cell phone service was gone within 12 hours of the storm hitting the city. Amd it would've taken a very long time, at least hours to a day, for him to get his family from the overpass he claimed to be on to uptown where his family was. Especially dragging his wife and kid on a pool toy. I could tell u my own SURVIVAL story and it would be 100% true. Also, that Purge story in Crowley is fake too. Louisiana doesn't have basements.

I worked in a homeless shelter for families in California , the influx of Katrina families was overwhelming . We even had to set-up emergency cots in the lobby even. These poor people had suffered the horrors of the Houston stadium incidents. The stories these people told were absolutely horrifying & heartbreaking.

I'm from Louisiana but I'm on the northern part of it, and I've been very much westernized because of my dad being from Cali and my mom (who is from Louisiana) being in Washington for a long time with my dad. So I can pretty much say I ain't much of a Louisiana kind of person. I love the place because I find it beautiful but I got no Louisiana culture in me. But I love learning about Louisiana and listening to scary stories from here. It just seems more scary when they're close to home and especially with the dark past this state has it makes it more scary. And I'll say you found some pretty scary ones (especially number 4).

Double check your insurance! They don’t cover squat basically. I called before a hurricane once to make sure they covered flood. Turned out they covered flood from a burst pipe or something but not water that comes up from the ground. I ended up getting new insurance at that time, drove a couple states away with my newborn, got ransacked robbed while I was gone and the insurance company told me my policy was too new to collect. Like I planned the drug addicts breaking into my house?! (I say drug addicts bc I found a full silverware set that I’d never seen before except it was missing the spoons.)
