Nope! It's still DST, which makes it EDT, not EST. That is, Eastern Daylight Savings Time, aka summer time, as opposed to Eastern Standard Time, aka winter time. You should've said ET or Eastern Time and that would've covered both cases.

It's funny you say that because I've been housesitting for a family since 2014. For the first time ever the neighbor came around knocking and I've never spoken to the guy nor did the people I sit for mention he was coming by. You can bet I hid in the kitchen and waited for him to go away lmao. Answering the door (unless the people you're sitting for say they're waiting for a package or something) is so stupid and dangerous. Don't do it.

I would’ve called the cops in story 3. Wreck my house like that and with the neighbor’s attitude about it? Screw that. Underage drinking ✅ Adult who supplied the alcohol ✅ I would’ve felt just like that homeowner did. Some people have to save for years to buy a house, those little shits. I give the guy credit for not decking him, but he would’ve been found guilty of battery of a minor so thankfully his wife could talk him down Edit: The last story is sweet 🥰

Story 3, he should be so grateful his pets didn’t die. If he was away for any longer, they could have, & that would be so devastating to the kids. Also, it’s a good idea to install live cameras in homes. There’s a whole industry on that. I’m not as lucky myself. A dog of mine died because of my at the time roommate’s irresponsibility.

As a teen who housesits and takes care of the pets for my neighbours when they're out of town, story 3 pissed me off so much, especially how those assholes fucking locked the pets in another room, like I'm literally younger than that guy yet I've been taking care of the exact same responsibilities for years, with help when I was younger but still, its just so frustrating to know that people like that exist, it isn't that teens aren't responsible enough to take care of someone's house, well not entirely, it's that the kid in that story is a irresponsible asshole

💯. As a kid, both neighbors had dogs. First I, then later my younger brother, would collect their mail and packages, take out the trash on trash day, let ourselves in to feed and walk the dog 3x a day (and play of course), water plants, and run sprinklers (these were the days before built in automated sprinklers...u physically placed them in areas and manually turned them on and off) for a week or so at a time starting at 12 yrs old. No issues. It was 35ish yrs ago, but I think there are teens responsible enough to handle that.

After my time in the army I gave house sitting a try usually for family, friends and acquaintances. My one horror story. Sitting at a house out in kind of the backwoods I spent my days watching TV and cleaning my .40 pistol that I kept for protection. 2:30 in the morning I hear scratching at the back door as I go to check if the family's dog needed to go outside I was confronted by the sight that I never expected to see.Staring at me through the glass door is a huge black bear. It stood on its hind legs and look like it was about to hit the door. On an instinct I raised my firearm and unloaded every round I had into that bear. It did not survive. That was my last time house sitting.

Story #5 made me want to comment. Firstly it’s awful what happened to that young woman. I’m sure finishing her house trashed wasn’t not good. But the police did their job. I’m a criminal justice major and can say they weren’t in the wrong. They escorted the sitter off of the property. Threats are taken seriously but if police arrested someone for threats we’d have a lot of arrests. The sister could have potentially filled charges for the house being destroyed. The police could not have prevented the ex boyfriend from coming to the house. The sitter promised half for the money and the guy sounds like a terrible person. Don’t blame the police for the terrible people in this world.
