I've actually heard of this atrocity before, and I gotta say the reader is really letting up on the most gruesome details... Her parents hardly visited, and when they did they neglected Sylvia's obvious malnourished appearance and overall unhealthiness. She even had an older sister that lived near her that advised her not to run away when she tried once, which ultimately discouraged her from getting help.. Ffs, she kept showing up to school looking beat, and was eventually permanently removed to be left in the basement, even though her real sister and the other daughters were kept in session with no official reason as to why.. The lack of outreach is truly terrifying, and it really goes to show how silence can be EXTREMELY dooming.

What bothers me about Sylvia's case is not only was Gertrude and her children torturing her...but NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS were doing it too. Just how unlucky can one person be? What's terrible is that not all of them were arrested and got away with torturing a human being. They all should have been held accountable, not just Bobby. Seriously sickens me and angers me how the justice systems allows these kind of people to go free or not even give them life for what they did.

The 4th story sickens me. I don't understand how anyone could do that to a family member and all because of money. What that woman and those boys did to Sylvia Likens is truly awful, no person should have to suffer through any of that. And apparently I hear that the Aunt had been released on good behavior, what is it with the justice system? I don't care if she had good behavior, she murdered an innocent human being.
