Your positive energy helps me as I go through some difficult life challenges. I need all the positivity I can find. It sounds corny, but it feels like a warm hug of encouragement! ☺️ I also enjoy watching the progress on your wedding venue. It’s so exciting. Stay well.

It is so green where you live and absolutely beautiful. I live in the desert in the city. Well hope you feel better soon! Sending you hugs from New Mexico. USA

Never let anyone think you shouldn't be using pain meds. You've had a damn surgery and need them. Unfortunatly opioids have a horrid stigma that make it difficult for people in real pain to acquire and use them without facing judgement.
@asideofaioli46304 жыл бұрын
You have no idea how much reading your comment has validated my experience, and I really appreciate it. I was on one for YRS, w/ no major tolerance increases, using the exact same low level dose, & 1x time a day the entire duration of being on it. But they decided to take me off even though they couldn't name any long term health consequences other "addiction" & left me to instead turn to otc pain meds that have known long term health consequences for long term use, esp for someone like me with other pre-existing conditions. I'd have to be quite the unique addict to consistently maintain the prescribed pain med dose for yrs w/o ever having asked for an increase 🙄. Even told them I'd consent to drug testing to prove they were being used correctly. So essentially they rather me risk liver disease (acetaminophen) or heart disease (nsaids), than keep me on something that I've clearly shown no sign of "addiction." I have to use the max dose of nsaids around the clock every day, & have now started experiencing edema from them. Told my Dr, & no surprise she said I should stop them 😣 & do what instead?? Told me to take hot showers to relieve the pain.... 🤦 so I guess I'm expected to jump in the shower every other hr. How would one live that way? So I'm left w/ no options bc I can no longer continue w/ otc & they refuse to provide what once helped to manage my pain. Drs no longer use discretion & patient specific circumstances to determine pain meds, it's 'everyone's an addict". So it breaks my heart to think others like Maggie have to struggle w/ this too. She's such a sweetheart & shouldn't have to worry about unfairly reactive & judgmental drs. I'm sry I ranted so much. Invisible chronic pain can feel isolating, so having empathetic ppl like yourself is touching & unfortunately all my frustrations poured out. Anyway, be well 💙

@@asideofaioli4630Have spot on experienced the same issues throughout my care. Often to try and compensate from not using actual pain medication I was often put on anti-depressants and anti-seizure medication, as there is minor evidence it helps, a plethora of off label drug use brings about all these side effects while achieving very little actual analgesia. Compared to a simple single drug actually designed for treating pain like oxycontin, or ms contin, tapentadol and so on which has much less side effects. I was on about 4 medications all being used off label, I would have nightmares for the TCAs, fall over from the seizure medication, fall alseep while driving from the Tetracyclics . Compared to recently on low dose oxycodone with 50% increase in daily function and little to no side effects. Signed a contract, did random drug tests everything to ensure safe use between myself and practitioner. Even though the results were great and I was functioning like I was pre chronic pain, with perfect drug tests, no early scripts, exercising doing a multidisciplinary approach even with all this validation of positive effect the stigma still gets hold and the authorities start breathing down the doctors neck about prescribing for chronic non cancer pain. Its a shame so many pain patients have to fight to get the relief they need to see some daily function and then struggle to maintain their regimen. The stigma is no negative at the first hearing of opioid or pain medicine or even just chronic pain you can see in a lot of peoples faces and by what they say that they think your automatically an addict. All the best, Lots of love.

It can take a long time. When I first got my Ostomy (Alex) I was "whole-body sore" for a year and a half. Like, everything hurt, EVERYTHING. They would roll me to the side to change the sheets and I would be screaming. After I was discharged, I would need an ambulance to take me to doctor's appointments, we would hit the slightest bump and I would be screaming. It was miserable. I still have chronic pain but I am not screaming all the time. Still have those bladder spasms and still taking 5mg Oxybutynin twice a day. I think they did do the Laparoscopic Surgery on you so that is what that lateral scar is and maybe they put the derma stuff on your existing scar just to help it get better. It looks good considering everything. The wedding seems to be coming up fast it's already the middle of August. The work in the barn seems to be advancing by leaps and bounds. It is really starting to look fabulous. It will be so beautiful.

I grew up with a mother who is disabled and when I became I (pain disorder first) I would restrict my pain meds because society makes you feel like you should! But she has shown me how it is more important to ‘have a life’ than be in pain and not do anything and not have a life. Don’t get me wrong, I am very good at being just under the level where any drug makes me fuzzy or weird... and I regulate and reduce as and when needed ( like after stoma surgery I have been reducing my meds successfully much lower than I was on before because the surgery took away so much of the pain I had). But my point is don’t feel bad for wanting to function. I have gone through the hell of rehab twice and each time the other “addicts” get angry because I’m not an addict, my body has,a dependence on something that allows me to function and I know can stop the climb... anyway! Don’t apologise, maybe they did cut your midline but the nature of the scare is that the internal dissolvable stitches you can tell are there. Doesn’t matter... look after yourself hun. You ARE doing great xx

Hi Maggie and Zak, just discovered you a few days ago, and love you guys! I'm a fellow "Crohnie" or "Crohn's Warrior" of 40 years. And one thing I've learned over the years is when you need to rest, do it, because if you don't when you need to, you just end up feeling worse. You mention how everything is a bit uncomfortable right now, my surgeon had a perfect answer to that when I mentioned that same feeling at my check-up after surgery. He said, well, it's normal to feel like that, we did go tip toeing through your innards after all! He cracked me up, he really knows that humor is a must when you have this disease. I understand how you feel Maggie, I've had 1 bowel resection in '84, and another in '86 that also repaired 3 fistulas that opened up from my midline scar. Fistulas are no fun! Since then, have had gall bladder removed, bladder sling put in, and last 5 years have been having bile duct strictures, requiring 3 ERCP's with stents put in. I love that you are open with your issues, helping to educate others with what people with Crohn's go through. I pray for your complete healing, and hopefully no more problems. You and Zak are so lucky to have each other, and I look forward to following your life's journey. The barn is looking really awesome, I pray for your healing, and for your business to be successful. Bless you and Zak💕

Oh honey I'm so sorry for all your pain and awkwardness. Since my 20's I've been suffering from GERD. Also, with acid reflux. And I can relate to your illness. When we suffer from gastric issues we are bloated almost all the time. And like eight years ago I had a hysterectomy and Oh my Lord, that was tough. The pain and the bloated that I was driving me nuts. And I was prescribed with Percocet and I knew that it is addictive, but those first days I had to use it. I was careful with that. So I really understand what you're going through right now. And believe me, I planned my wedding and in charge of everything and that's a lot of stress right there. The stress exacerbates my gastric illness. So please don't be hard on yourself. I know it's the most important thing to almost all of us, BUT be careful. I really wish I could help you but I'm so far honesty. I'm telling this to you because you can be my daughter, and I know you are a tough cookie but delegate. I remember that you was showing us the flower arrangements you're planning on doing. I have an idea for you. You can find these round fishbowls in Michael's or dollar stores and you fill half of it with water, you cut the stems of four or five of your beautiful flowers and you place them on top of the water. Like floating flowers. It's easy to do and Zac will be delighted on helping you with that!!! I hope I'm not like intruding on your plans, but I'm kind of worried. Take care Angel.

Hi Maggie!! Watching your new video was the 1st thing i watched once i woke up from my last couple of really long night shifts at the hospital! Regarding the “mysterious dermabond” along the incision, i know from watching all of your videos that you had in fact mentioned that they had to “open up” that incision again for the surgery which i know you were not happy about! Perhaps bc they did have to make that small horizontal cut along the side of that incision, maybe they applied dermabond to the entire incision to help reinforce the entire site; especially since you’ve had a history of your incisions “opening up” from previous surgeries.....just a thought! Either way, you are not crazy for feeling silly! I would feel the same way!!!

Lol, the scar thing reminds me of my last follow-up. I was so concerned because my belly button literally looked like a beak! To do the robotic nephron sparing surgery, they sort of fold you and shish-ka-bob you with the instruments. The NP said "you were lucky you were still a candidate for the robotic with all of the scaring from your previous surgeries!" So I shut up lol. Sorry if I already said that: I take gabepentin lol. I have also been in that situation where I was totally confused about what actually happened to me for a while. I hope you get to ask soon, that's kind of an icky feeling. Lastly, yes- with kidney pain it's worse in the afternoon! If you tried to be sociable while in pain, you'd just say cranky things because it hurts and it's such an irritating pain! I get relief from heating pads, but you just have to be carful not to use them too hot or too long because they can cause bacteria growth and as you know, sepsis needs to be avoided!! Would you believe after my surgery before last, after a few days I had a temp of 101.7 and called the office and the on-call said that didn't seem like anything to worry about?? I was already becoming delirious/not making sense. My son was like....we need to go to the ER! So, I was given IV antibiotics and my temp continued to climb and my delirium became entertaining so I was admitted for sepsis. It was awful, I missed Halloween with my kiddos :(

Oh wow, Zak has great taste in dress shoes! He definitely has a bit of the old soul in him. They look like (now this will be spelled wrong!!) Florshime shoes. Ok, seriously...NO, your NOT crazy! With that kind of surgery and being told you were cut right down the middle, of course you will be able to see it still. I had the same thing, cut down the middle in the same place for the (get this) 4th time!! I had to have a wound vac because I wouldn’t heal. Well, if ya keep cutting open the same spot, 🙄 Don’t let them cut you there again Maggie!! They have put your belly thru the ringer!! God bless it xo Well, have to go now...guess where im going, grrrr !! I have to have a Covid test at 2. I’m feeling pretty rough, and 6 of the symptoms. Please cross your fingers. Ciao you and Zack have a good day

Maybe check with a plastic surgeon on your midline scar. I had abdominoplasty, which is the largest surgical flap made, as far as I know (hip to hip) and my scar is darker than the rest of my skin but basically flat. I'm sure a better surgeon could fix the "canyon" as you call it on your belly. My surgeon also made me a new belly button, which is adorable even on 72 year old me! 😄 He also sewed my rectus muscles together and discovered that I had abs!

I’m glad I’m not the only one that makes things up after surgery! Maybe ask your doctor if it was laparoscopic? Although I’m sure you already know! I would’ve been weirded out about that as well. 😆

The scar thing is bizarre, I'm curious what your doctor will say.

Maybe they put the dermabond there just as a precaution to prevent any pulling on the other incisions?

Hey girl. I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I was originally DX with UC... had my entire colon removed, then they discovered it was Crohns. Anyways, I and had a bag for 4 months, then had the reversal. Then I had several good years, but now things aren’t good. I get Remicade every 4 weeks as well as a scope/dilation every 4 weeks. During my last few scopes my GI said having a permanent ostomy is in my near future☹️ I’m struggling, a lot. Any advice? I still want a baby and I’m worried about being pregnant with a bag. Thank you for sharing your story!!

@rivalstorm1204 жыл бұрын
Question, how do you think you would be without zak? With all this?. I do not have a significant other nor any family where I live due to my mom passing away a couple years ago. I have crohns and I was going to remicade infusions and after insurance they were still too much so i stopped after the 4th one. Recently almost everything I have been eating, I hurt really bad. To the point where I dont like eating anymore. I wake up often through the night from the pain but i dont think i would be able to live with myself with everything you have gone through and the support zak has given you. So again, how do you think you would be taking all this if zak was not around? .

I want to be friendly but since my ileostomy last October I grew a hernia, literally pooped out straight after. See my surgeon a week on Monday, delayed due to covid. I am in greater Manchester in North west England so we are back in lockdown but my appt is urgent so will go ahead. But I hope for a solution I am fed up of being frumpy and unhappy with my hernia, me and my stoma have some living to do and bernie the Hernie needs to do one xx
