I grew up in Sudbury (Hanmer, really) and had no idea that they filmed there. While watching one episode there was a pile of gravel and a stunted birch tree in the background. I knew right away that it was Sudbury, and called a buddy to confirm. Rock, gravel, lakes. Love it.

CRTC doesn't give funding for anything more than 13 episode seasons, and almost never more than 65 total episodes. Limiting the seasons to 6 episodes allows them to put out more seasons. Also, quality would go down quickly if they went to full, American style seasons.
