“I don’t have that information, Dan” … is the most underrated line in this entire exchange. Feigning lack of knowledge to one question to add integrity to the rest of the tale. Classic fortune teller trick.

Wayne with the subtle addition of star trek knowledge to his story as he spins a yarn. Daryl and squirrelly Dan didn't even question that part for some reason.

I love the running theme in all these long ass porch/kitchen table conversations where at least twice Darry pipes up with a stupid question or comment and Wayne just grumbles under his breath about Darry pissing him off, hahaha

She was in her late thirties when she finally ventured into space, after first becoming a neurologist. I’d say she’s a great example of not letting your age keep you tied down to what you can or cannot do. I graduated US Army basic training at 29. Recently there was a soldier who was in his late forties, if I recall correctly. Pursue your dreams, never give up on yourself. Only you can hold yourself back.

She was 47 when she went into space. This is 5 years above the average age of 42 as few people younger than 38 have been up there seeing as you need a very established career in either an air force or a science before you even get considered for the rigorous training program. She was accepted into the program in 1983 at 38 years old and was certified as an astronaut in 1986 with the expectation to be selected for a mission in either '87 or '88, sadly the Challenger disaster happened shortly after she completed her training and that meant all plans changed. She was however finally selected for a mission in 1992.
