I was a mechanic in Indy Lights and met Bobby at a party. He was the reason after his 1986 win that I fell in love with IndyCar racing. I said, “Bobby you’re the whole reason I’m here in this room tonight”. He said, “Really, did I meet your mother?” I pointed at the gap in my front teeth and over-bight like his and said “Jeez, I don’t know”. He laughed his ass off and somewhere in my old toolbox I have picture of me and Bobby Rahal smiling like long lost father and sone.

I meet Bobby at Gold Coast Australia 1998. He was just walking from one part of the pits to the othe. He stopped to talk. Even though he would have been busy as a owner/ Driver. He was the nicest person to talk too.

Was standing on pit road with a group of people before the start of the Daytona 24 hour race. Kyle Petty, David Donahue and Hurley Haywood were nearby, as was Christian Fittipaldi. Bobby was at the center chatting with us, and said: "Excuse me one moment". He then turned around and gave the command to start the race. A moment I'll never forget.
