Don't know why I didn't watch all these when you posted them. I am finally catching up on all these "Staff Favorite Moments" posts. To Dave, Barbara, Mary and the Pants team, these are fantastic. Congrats. I remember a majority of these clips, but this concept of highlights with back stories is just perfect. Probably better than posting old episodes. Love the extra context which sometimes makes these segments even funnier. Keep it up-and thank you.

I don't think this one had an ending. I love the way it finished (I'm laughing, it was funny) but that last sentence never ended. God Bless Barbara and Bill and Jim and Don and Dave and Chris and Merrill and Gerard! Merry Christmas, all of us!
@billscheftyoutube2 жыл бұрын
The last sentence, which I eventually got to when Barbara and I stopped giggling, was "I just wanted to get that stare from him. I had made him laugh enough. When I said something that he knew was funny but couldn't laugh at, he would just stare at me. That was my goal...."

This was excellent. It's wonderful to hear from the writers who took up the tremendous challenge to slake our burning thirst for humour using only the pungent and oft-times florid sweat born of their toil. Cheers.

@@GPSjammer Oh the prose is intentionally purple but those are hardly thesauran words. If I were deep into the thesaurus I would have found more lurid words to replace things like "excellent, wonderful, hear, writers, tremendous, challenge, toil" etc. you get the point. Cheers bud.

Sorry I hit send too soon haha. My name is Rick I was one of your satellite uplink engineers when you're in San Francisco in the 90s, I also worked on all the Manny the hippie remotes after you went back to New York. Do you think you guys could show some video from that week and also from the Manny the hippie segments, thanks! You still Rock Dave!

Bill is clearly a funny, likable guy and I was a regular viewer until the last show. Still, regarding the later CBS years, so much of the comedy outside of the monologue seemed to be ‘gratuitous, marginally funny running gags.’ Alternately, author Bill Carter called it thin gruel.
