I've battled the big D since the age of 12 - that is 50 years of fighting the beast. My hobbies are what keep me sane and alive. It is that simple. So much of life is about DO THIS AND DO IT NOW! I've learned that you are allowed to have days when you really don't have to give a s**t. Nothing is SO important it can't be put on hold if you're really not feeling up to it. I wasted 4 days last week worrying about something I didn't need to worry about - all because someone else didn't do their job properly. I wish I could speak to that person face to face and make them understand. Today is proving to be a difficult day because there is something I want to do but I don't feel (physically) well enough to do it. I'm just aching and tired because I have arthritis and kidney disease. It would be so easy to sink into a funk, but I'm going to not allow myself to punish myself for not being well enough to do something I really wanted to do today. Instead, I will find some other way to have a fulfilling day. At least if I try and do that, I will have no reason to blame myself for anything. 😁 Simone always makes me smile. That is a gift.

You guys have SOoooo much fun together. It's a delight to see. Thanks for sharing this very typically thoughtful, gonzo and so successful project. (Following instructions in your video, Simone, what I do when feeling blah is to shave and clean up an awkward wood joint with my Veritas low-angle, bevel-up plane, after sharpening it properly. It may not be meditation, but the joy I get when using a tool-perfectly-suited-to-its purpose helps drives my blues away. On some occasion when even meditation isn't cutting the fog, give it a try sometime.)

It's always so enjoyable when a video of yours comes out. I'm currently working with a therapist and a psychiatrist to try find relief for my anxiety, through a combination of natural and medicinal support. I'm definitely going to give headspace a try, as I think a more guided approach to deep breathing/meditation etc. could really benefit me. Currently when I try to do deep breathing when I feel anxiety coming on or during attacks, I usually feel more anxious that I'm not doing it "right", so then I just adjust to try to slow down my breathing, as it's usually pretty erratic.
