us and them is such a quiet unassuming film when it shows up in your netflix recommended but i after watching it i was so taken! it's human in an almost painful way and it makes you relate to the characters, even if you haven't lived through something similar. one of my all-time favorites, i wish more people would watch it.

I think the movie is about regret, the theme song mentions him regretting losing the woman he loved the most, he did move on but, his heart was still with her. And he realized that him and his wife were not on the same page, because she was a bit materialistic. And the girl didn't move on because she couldn't find a love like she had with her first love, nothing compared, which is sad. This movie was great, and nothing compares to it I'm still searching and the theme song is just as great

Completely agree with your review. It is so heartbreaking. Cried a lot times. That car scene in black and white is so poignant and the goodbye scene is so heartbreaking. We cried when the theme song was played even if we don’t understand it. And the lead stars are so great. Bravo!!!👏👏👏

This movie is my all time favorite Chinese movie. Still tugs at my heart strings, still makes me cry at the thought of it! It was incredibly well done, well acted and beautifully put, they made a regret story that’s mostly ugly most of the time they made it beautiful. How the story was told just like you said was overwhelmingly beautiful but sad too. This movie Taught me how to love and appreciate sad stories! And I just want to tell you I love your reaction and review of this movie, I had the same feelings regarding the film so this felt like a virtual discussion

After this raving review I watched “us and them”’yesterday. And I must say I’m still thinking about it! What a fantastic film! Love the characters, the cinematography and the black and white/coulor choise. Thanks for the great tip!
