To put something into perspective. The Pussycats stopped working for a couple months because the stolen quirk, and they slipped from the 30s to the HUNDREDS in ranking. They say they're still ranked so HIGHLY because of sheer popularity. Jeanist has been entirely out of commission since Kamino, where he was nearly killed by All for One, and he hasn't even been able to make public appearances, and he's still at number THREE in the rankings. THREE. That means he's just THAT absurdly popular. On the flip side, you saw the categories they rate for the ranking. Endeavor isn't much of a people person, in fact he's been so focused on beating All Might he became anti people person, but he's still consistently been ranked HIGHER than Jeanist for YEARS. THAT means Endeavor has just done SO much good, he's stopped SO many crimes, it doesn't matter he doesn't have a fanclub. He's the definition of "You may not like me, but I get shit done."

Not to mention the characters and the story are also quite nice... as long they keep in mind the little details. Am I the only one who finds it weird that, in the same episode where Eri starts living at UA, we get Kota visiting UA with the Wild Wild Pussycats and NOT have him interact with her? Two kids whom Deku was instrumental in saving becoming friends would be the CUTEST thing ever! Plus, both Eri and Kota could use a friend their own age.

Hawks and Mirko are here. And they are iconic. Little fun fact, the second MHA movie came out around the middle of S4. So a lot of anime-only fans were introduced to him through the movie. But that movie also has spoilers for early, mid, and late S5 so I'd recommend holding off on watching it. This man AFO has been in prison for an entire season and he's still finding ways to troll people. The level of petty on this man is unrivaled. And now Dabi has released a super advanced Nomu out in public. The first time we've seen the League since S4 ep 14. Well, Shigaraki did say it was their turn now. Guess he kept true to his word.

Wash is most definitely in the Top 10 because of popularity. But in terms of hero work, he can make soup bubbles strong enough to carry or trap people, plus his 'cleaning' power can be used to instantly sanitize wounds in rescue situations. Which we will see in a pretty important moment later in Season 7.

I love it when the show expands upon hero work, agencies, polls and stuff that would absolutely be real if our world had superheroes, even four seasons in. The popularity polls were always cool to hear about, but here it becomes actually important due to Endeavor being the new number one after All Might. The characters themselves and the world in large are affected by this, and it's just such a cool detail to think of.

A slight difference in the script might explain the weirdness you have about Endeavor's popularity ranking. When the kid says he liked old Endeavor because he was "mean" the original translation is more about him being unapproachable and stern. When people see him act as a hero they don't see him belittle or berate civilians or anything likes that. They see him save them, be matter a fact about checking them over for injury, and then being on his way. In comparison All Might in the same situation might crack a joke, or complement the person just saved, do something to make them feel good.

“Yuji Itadori?” Of you sweet summer children. The Endeavor fan boy is actually a reference to a character from Fairy Tale. The lead Natsu. He’s a very prominent fire wizard who uses dragon magic essentially. This was a solid cameo for fan boys of this generation.

Endeavor being ranked #1 despite his outward perception speaks to how great of a hero he actually is. The announcer gave him 4th in terms of approval. But him being ranked #1 is probably why the in universe fans love him. And someone like myself prefer him over All Might.

I know his heart is kinda in the right place, but I think Endeavor has the wrong idea of “being a hero that Shoto can be proud of.” Endeavor’s problem was never that he was a bad pro hero. he wasn't a bad pro hero in terms of stats. purely off of stats he was well second best but his drive to be better was purely to overcome all might and that desire twisted him into what he became. By saying he'll be a hero that shoto can be proud of he means he wants to share the same hope that all might brings people. instead of just being obsessed with the title of number 1 he wants to prove he can be someone that people look up to and are happy when he arrives on scene. he already feels like he's failed as a father and has no right to seek redemption and a place among his family so being a hero is all he can do.

@@natsuotodoroki the mindset behind it is arguably the biggest change. the fact he was able to ask all might for help and how he became a symbol and how he now no longer does his hero work with the sole goal of overcoming all might is a massive change. you can say hes not doing much because hes still going to be a good pro hero but its the difference between doing your work as a professional and viewing it as a job or doing something with passion which takes you that step further. like we'll see in the next episode when his kids are watching the fight. they tell him that he'd normally just call for backup in that situation if he was outmatched which is what a good pro hero would do but hes aiming to be a symbol for people and so he goes above and beyond his limits to single handily beat the high end.

@@skylanderking7645 Well, yes but actually no. He did care about being number one, it’s the title he’s been chasing for most of his life. If he was just chasing the title of “strongest hero,” he wouldn’t have been so obsessed with All Might, since he actually did surpass him in terms of cases and all that. Plus, “strongest hero” is an even more arbitrary title since it’s based off of nothing but stats, which All Might famously doesn’t have any public records of. Endeavor WAS chasing the title of number one hero, but either wanted to do so out of pure work ethic, or was just too self-absorbed to see that he would have to be nice to earn the public’s favor. Honestly, it’s probably a combination of the two.

Not to mention the boost he got on his participation on Camino Incident and the credit he got for catching the Hero Killer Stain. So what he lacks on Public Approval, he makes it up with cases solved.

Absolutely love this mini arc. It lets us know more about pro-heroes system and everything. Yeah, Endeavor power level is insane. He actually doesn't have a power-type quirk, and his flame being only emitter-type means that his bare physical strength is on a superhuman level. If you think about it, he actually is a strongest natural-born hero in Japan, since All Might was born quirkless and inherited One For All from Nana. A cruel irony, honestly. He was trying to surpass someone who was even born without power and lost his mind and humanity in process. Next episode is my favourite in the show, character analysis wise and symbolism wise. Can't wait to see reaction for these episodes and next arc after the joint training arc

Agreed. Endeavor is really the strongest hero if we don't consider quirks. His only shortcoming is his overheating, which only due to the overuse of his quirk (one of the main reasons why he chose to marry Rei).

I think that, if it wasn't for public approaval, Endeavor could actually had competed with All Might for 1st place. I mean... All Might was adored by most of Japan, while Endeavor was not as popular. In fact... if you look Endeavor as the Hero he is and not as a person, you an actually see he is the Hero that works the most to keep the peace in Japan. If you don't count All Might, Endeavor ranks lower in approaval when in comparison to Best Jeanist, Hawks and Edgeshot, and yet he outranks them, which is due to the fact he has the record for the most solved cases and, in this way, contributed for a big part of the maintenance of the peace.

That's one of his quirk's uses, being quite useful to treat civilians after an encounter with villains or a tragedy, but he also uses his soapy water to carry people. He is like Thirteen, a Hero especialized in rescue.

Alright! Time for another mini-arc! These are always cute and sweet and fun with some really neat insight into whatever is happening. Surely there’s no way….oh god Horikoshi just almost took my head off with that whiplash. Here we go into what is probably the strongest mini-arc in the whole dang show. Eri got adopted by UA! Ooor more accurately by Aizawa and Mirio. She is free of her hospital confines and she doesn’t get put into the orphanage system. Because…just…no. Why would ANY part of that be a good decision for Eri? She’s only just starting to understand proper human interactions and 90% of people to her are triggers. This keeps Eri in the safest of environments and by everyone she’s learned to trust. (Aizawa being the main teacher she trusts probably means Aizawa has PRETTY different interactions with Eri than the ENTIRETY of what’s been on screen. I learned the sweater he’s holding in the intro he got for Eri not the other way around) And it keeps her ability available when it comes time. (Also probably don’t want to tell many people yeah this lil girl can make dragon ball wishes come true) REALLY short scene with Tokoyami. I can’t with that sneeze description. My mucous membranes are just doing their job? God I need to remember that one. But this is the 1st time in the ENTIRE season he mentions his work studies. All we’ve known is he was requested by Hawks, and as I mentioned before he actually did his internship with him too. It was super quiet but he’s been pretty uncomfortable giving any information up at all regarding it. About them both. He’s not very forthcoming of his experiences. Keep an eye on that. The Pussycats are back! They settle all their grievances with the kids and make sure everyone knows they’re ok. Tiger apologizes that none of the heroes even got CLOSE to making any notable contact with Bakugo on camp and he got kidnapped because of that. (I REALLY don’t think it would’ve helped much against Dabi or Compress.) Not to mention when Bakugo entered the scene by AFO, Tiger was the only capable pussycat on the scene to protect him. And I think we can forgive him because he was just shy of being AFO’s newest graffiti on the wall he almost pasted him into..along with the entire city left in the wake of that blast. Still gotta thank…Best Jeanist WOW the season 3 conflicts were an absolute DISASTER for collateral. They made sure to show Pixie-Bob is ok after getting her skull practically split open by Magne and her 4 foot hunk of metal. Ragdoll is officially responding after getting her SOUL ripped out when AFO took her quirk. And Kota has red shoes as the ONLY clothes Deku had left intact after getting plastered by Muscular! (And I didn’t mention but Mandalay is the MVP of them. She’s my favorite) MAN just talking to these guys recovered makes you realize how much they and the kids went through when AFO came out of hiding. Good thing there’s no mysteries left with him and WE STILL DON’T KNOW HOW MANY QUIRKS HE HAS?! He’s been incarcerated for 3 months now hasn’t he?! He’s gotta be tested on 24/7 because there’s LITERALLY nothing he can do…or chooses not to do while he serves his time! We now know that quirks are DNA and you could very much so at least find how many different dna samples he has from different people but it’s UNCOUNTABLE. For what we find, wellness checks need to be conducted on the people he has quirks of…you know. Despite the fact 99.9999% of them are almost CERTAINLY dead. Yeahhhh. He was lying when he said he was running low on quirks when he 1st walked onto the scene. This guy has EVERY quirk he’s had over the 200 years he’s walked the earth aside ones he’s willingly parted with. (And most of those have completely shattered peoples minds or mangled corpses into Nomu.) The ultimate combination of quirks is what he said? Yeahhhhh no. We have NO IDEA what his limits are, but his best is on par with Injured All-Might in likely COUNTLESS combinations which outclasses THE ENTIRE CAST BY A MILE. And that’s saying nothing why Ragdoll was in an operating cloth when we found her! AND HE KNOWS DEKU IS THE NEXT HOLDER! This guy is locked away but he COMPLETELY looks like he WANTS to be there. Any second this guy is ALIVE is a global danger and we don’t even know if the death penalty is POSSIBLE to work on him because there’s no way this guy being who he is doesn’t have quirks for SPECIFICALLY those methods of punishment. Whoof. The mere concept of this villain is just insanity. The hero billboard chart is the next ongoing addition to this ever expanding LUDICROUSLY well thought out occupation. And this is likely what the kids have been staring down ever since before they enrolled. This isn’t just Deku nerding over, this is what the entire PLANET nerds over. And ESPECIALLY the kids. They all came into this occupation for the most part to be street performers that get to flex their guns to the world and get popular and rich doing it. That part has been falling away more and more as reality sets in what the job ACTUALLY looks like as they get active…or are forced by villains to be active. But the whole glory of it all remains. For better and worse I suppose. It works best with All-Might the shining symbol of peace at the top. But here’s the top 10 nonetheless! 10.) Ryukyu 9.) Yoroi Musha 8.) Wash (HOW?!) 7.) Kamui Woods 6.) Crust 5.) Mirko 4.) Edgeshot 3.) Best Jeanist (STILL ALIVE) 2.) Hawks 1.) Endeavor Ok quick notes, pretty sure all 10 are 3 full classes of hero. 1 way or another. Or is just the one in the most commercials. (I swear to god Wash has to be like an equivalent of kars for kids for this to make ANY sense to me. In which case…NO. Stop with the commercial bombardment.) All of it feels strange as all these cute little political taglines are let out to the press. But there’s not a booming laughter of a presence at the top. And heck, by the public standards he’s not even the most popular with no All-Might! He’s just BAR NONE the most proficient hero. I’m sure All-Might would laugh or comment his support for everyone but Endeavor just sits there quietly waiting his turn and it makes everyone kinda awkward. Hawks doesn’t really hesitate to just say “Why is this approval number so important? Why can’t we just do our jobs? What will this mean? Let’s ask the guy up top!” And even though Hawks sounded like he was needling Endeavor…this is the moment Endeavor has waited for the ENTIRE show. Endeavor and All-Might have been in almost complete odds with how they operate and this is essentially Endeavor’s chance to just show “I’m doing my job.” Endeavor clawed at EVERY surface he could to get here while All-Might always made it look easy. Now Endeavor is left to just try to fill the role everyone WANTS him to be. Or more accurately be what they’re used to seeing at the top. And there’s nothing as calming as…a guy who set his face on fire and looks like he lives and breathes his hot head. Endeavor meets a hardcore fan and tries to support him and do some actual public work for once. And it goes…horrifically. Everyone is scared, and the one he tries to relax says DON’T COMFORT. YOU’RE NOT ENDEAVOR. And Endeavor thinks back to Inasa the legend rooting for him. They hit it off so well!… after 2 entire arcs explaining how much of a dumpster fire he is getting Inasa to hate you til he actually saw the real issues he was addressing 1st hand. All-Might said it himself. You and I are not the same people. I wanted to be a symbol. But is that what YOU want? Hawks shows as carefree and easy he shows himself to be, he’s also REALLY good at the quiet parts of the job. He’s informed. He’s not just looking into big incidents, he’s listening to the tiny incidents and aiming to catch a big incident before it happens. And he’s guiding Endeavor into that himself. Except unlike Endeavor, Hawks doesn’t have to squash all the rumors and dark talk that swirl with it. Even though he’s always wary. He notices the exact words of “liberation” from the shame guy. And he notices the talk of the Nomu increasing. And this is where it starts to reach the symbol’s job. The way this conversation swivels always has me going through a loop with how it’s described. But after some deciphering…this conversation is nothing short of BRILLIANT and I highly recommend you keep notes of it. Hawks isn’t asking for a flashy symbol, but he IS asking for Endeavor to reach the symbol class of hero. And he’s doing it by asking Endeavor to work on a containment case. Endeavor like the other top 10 heroes is 3/4 classes of hero. And he’s combat, rescue, and detective. His WEAKNESS is containment. He can’t contain concern, and he can’t contain big events as he operates. What you think YOU can spot an 8 foot tall muscle giant ON FIRE coming to stop you? Well the old lady in front of the mic before the top 10 speak sure thinks not. And right when you think this episode can’t have ENOUGH depth and swiveling points, here comes a Dabi sponsored city cataclysm. That’s a BIG boy. As in, the size of the season 1 Nomu. That’s not good! And for next time, Endeavor gets into a fight.

I'd imagine that some of the UA teachers would end up in the top 10 if they weren't teachers. Eraser and present mic would definitely be good candidates if they focused more on hero work and never became teachers. Aizawa before coming to UA as a teacher spent 24/7 just hunting villains and resolving cases. Definitely wouldnt be the most popular, but if he had his own underground agency with sidekicks rather than being solo, he'd probably reach rank 10 just based on resolved cases I have no idea what placement Mic is in the ratings but to be a hero, a teacher, and have a radio show be that popular is insane. So, some additional info, but this time from the drama cds. These are pretty canon and more focused on slice of life stuff. So Aizawa, Eraser, and Mic have gone out drinking several times. One was when All Might first became a teacher and his birthday, the other was after they visited the parents regarding dorms. The reason i talk about this is because of the first time. Mic's gift to All Might is a usb containing terabytes of audio from his radio broadcast show totaling about 11 years of playtime from start to finish. Even in his time in UA, he was considered a jack of all trades by his teachers, having a quirk that excels in combat, rescue, and entertainment. I'd see him be rank 8

And I don’t see Hawk’s conversations much different from Gran Torino not telling Deku the answer but getting his mind in the right scope so he sees what he’s missed.

@@tobofu5978I’m pretty sure all the UA teachers could EASILY make top 10. They’re all ridiculously strong heroes that people would LOVE to watch and not lower their proficiency. Midnight could effortlessly get up to Mount Lady’s level. But my guess is people that would make the top 10 would be Ectoplasm, 13, and Mic for popularity. And Aizawa for pure proficiency. I also wonder where Ingenium would rank. I’ve said he was likely once a top 10 hero considering the sheer amount of his sidekicks. And had he been undamaged by the Kamino fight he’d be the rescue ace of the crew.

@@Kaempfdog so from vigilantes, we know the sidekicks of ingenium and midnight. Midnight's sidekicks are called the midnight boys and they assist well on investigations, providing distraction and helping her go undercover to investigate a series of drugging incidents. Ingenium is really good for highspeed chase and capture. He has sidekicks suited for surveillance and providing roadblocks. Some sidekicks include Enigma, a girl who can expand to the size of a building with a body like rubber to cushion crashes and block routes. There's a sidekick with a drone quirk that allows them to fly for aerial surveillance. There's bigshot, kinda like fatgum but mostly rolls and bounces around like a ball. Also, Tensei is faster than iida since his recipro doesnt cause his engines to stall like tenyas burst and extend. The only move that stalls him is rocket charge where he becomes a missile Another additional thing id like to note is support items in ua. It appears that some of the current technology the students use have actually been used by past alumni. Jiro has the speaker boots, but Mic also had that as a student. Aoyamas costume that can allow him to shoot his navel laser from other parts of his body actually had a similar design and function to mic and eraser classmate who could shoot energy orbs from his palms.

I mean they all have agencies. That's the point of being top ranked heroes. They have a bunch of people working under them to maintain the crime fighting while they step out for at most half a day. The concept of the story in the show/manga specifically points this out, that society is so focused on the top heroes and rankings and such, and kind of ignore that at the end of the day there are many other heroes in the world fighting crime and saving people.

That's a bit overdramatic. It's important to have them see each other for camaraderie and to make a powerful statement to the country. It's only a few hours and they still have entire agencies working. Keep in mind this is Japan, not America. It will only take a few hours for the heroes to get home. They'll be back by the end of the same day.

The Endeavour Super Fan is probably meant as an easter egg about another Anime. Fairytail's one of the main characters, Natsu Dragneel. Both are Pink Haired and wears scarf. Natsu is a fire user and this fan likes Endeavor who IS a fire user. Both shares the same voice actors too.

Kenny and Montano should react to Transformers Prime in the future. Despite being a kids show, it well-written with fantastic characters. Re Zero is truly incredible, but it might be a little much for them in terms of gore. If they think they can handle it though, it has one of the most heartfelt and touching stories I've ever experienced.
