Cover what you want to save with INCANDECENT Christmas lights and then cover the plant. That's what I have to do with my newly planted citrus each winter season when it freezes. It keeps the plant just warm enough. Worth a shot! Thanks for the video. I may try strawberries next season. Those were gorgeous!

I have grown Charlotte for two years without protection and they overwintered well enough. But it’s always a good idea to mulch them, and cover them with fleece, to minimize the freeze/thaw cycles they will be subjected to … which affects their root and crown health.

I covered mine up with plastic and we got no snow. It was saying with the weather alerts that it was snowing but nothing was coming down. Even at night nothing stuck and it looked the same. But it got down to "Feels like 29 degrees" so I was glad I covered it up. Now I'm trying to figure out when to cover it next because we're supposed to be getting down in temps for about a week but the local news is drastically different than the big name weather forecasters so I'm not sure who to believe. Usually they're very close in their predictions but not this time. We're going to have pay attention daily and just cover and uncover as we go.
