How often and when do you prune your Daphne? Having seen this video, I think I can take off more than I am , very helpful! 👍🏼👍🏼😃

I normally prune after the first round of blooms, according to the website info. Also light prune to shape as needed. This year, I was behind and did not prune after first blooms and the second round is turned out to be great I prune for shape and size regardless since I have limited space. Not sure if I answered your question or not. I plan to observe this year as to an alternative time to prune.

Great informative video as always and the only one I could find on how to prune Daphne. I was wondering what is best time to prune Daphne. Is it better after the first spring flush or do it later in fall ?

After the first spring flush is definitely better. In 2020, I did not prune in spring because it kept on blooming and the fragrance! I ended up doing a light prune late fall. Because of the late fall prune, the spring bloom was a bit late in 2021 (I think). By the time the spring flush were done, the once in a decade heat arrived. After that subsided, I had an eye surgery hence could not do much. Yes, September was an odd time to prune but I had to before my second surgery in October. Best to prune right after the first flush of heaviest blooms! 💪🏻💪🏻

Very beautiful garden. Can I ask you what kind of compost you used to plant Daphne in the pot? And if you fertilize it? Your Daphne looks so healthy and happy. Thank you

Thanks! I use Sea Soil organic container mix and compost. I apply fertilizer every spring when day time temperature is about 15C. It is a slow release granular organic fertilizer for shrubs made by a local garden center named GardenWorks. I find the slow release aspect is important. Having highs and lows when it comes to feeding is not the best. Hope this helps. 😊
