so i zero my scope in and then order my dial so do i then put that new dial on at 0 or 1 for a 100 yrd zero ?

How, if at all, is this affected by variable power? I have a 3x9, would this be changed of I'm on 3 versus 9 power?

Dialing a scope is not affected by the power of the scope. Reticle markings are going to be power dependent if you have a second focal plane scope, variable power is not an issue in a first focal plane scope.

Not affected at all, you won't be compensating long shots on lo pwr.

You can dial to the hash in-between 3.5 and 4, which would be right at 375 yards.

No gravity affects the same up or down. Aim low

No. The horizontal plane is the only plane affected bey gravity. A slope distance down or uphill is only affected by gravity in the horizontal axis. The slope may be 500 yards at a 46degree angle but you hold as if the distance where a350 yard whether shitting up or down at 45 degrees. If you hold for 500 yard withy 30-05 you will midd high by over 20 inches. Learn how to shoot.

So I can cheat with MPBR set scope to 250 yards and be good out to 300 yards give or take 3" high or 3" low zero for 100 yards set to #1 and dial about 2.5 for 250 yards If I need to go from 300 yards to 600 yards just dial

You have to understand your point blank data for your bullet and the game you're shooting. Who cares if a moose is 275 or three hundred and fifty yards away?
