Going to toss in my 2 cents. I have zeroed in my gun with the original elevation dial that came with the 3i 3.5 - 10 40 MM CDS ZL scope. I tried several different ammo brands. I have picked one I want to use for my free dial. I used the original dial to align the impact of that bullet and set 0 to that bullet at 100 yards. The free dial should work with those settings. But maybe for a hunt I decide I want to shoot a ballistic tip instead of a PSP. Or maybe heavier grain. In order to do that I have to take the custom dial off and zero the gun using the original dial that came with it to match the new ammo. Then I have to put on the custom dial that matches that ammo. Not going to happen in the middle of a hunt because you have to redial the gun when you change ammo. I shot Remington Core-Loket PSP 165 gr with my 30.06 Winchester and got a very tight group of 12 shots with in a silver dollar at 100 yards. When I switch to a Nosler Trophy Grade 165 gr it shot 2 minutes high and a minute to the right. Not as tight of group I might add. So no switching ammo in the field once that custom dial is on their. In order to do that I have to go back to the range toss on the original dial and start over to change dials. Just wanted to make sure people understood that because I have seen some misleading videos on the web that made it seem like once the zero is set you could just toss on any custom dial and go.

Sorry you didn't receive an answer from them, and realize you purchased another brand. For future consideration, I have a Leupold 170683 VX-3i 3.5-10x40 with a duplex reticle for my 300 Blackout and have ordered a Leupold 115394 Mark AR MOD 1 6-18X40mm Mildot for my 6.5 Creedmoor. My experience with scopes is Zed, but have faith in the people who provided the advice. This is the FIRST time ever I have submitted a comment in KZbin and I have been a user for years, and old besides! Enjoy your scope.

Hey Fred, do you have one on your air rifles. I even purchased one for one of my .25 cal pellet rifles, sighted it in and put an 8 round magazine literally in the same hole at 50 yards. I was so impressed with the one on my 300 Wheatherby (VX3 4.5x14x 50 ) after I shot a deer and a cow elk ( 520 yards ) that I called Leupold and asked if they could build me a turret for a pellet rifle. They said they could, so I bought a Vx2 3x9x40 ) I gave them all of the info and It works great. My eight year old grandson last time out was taking sparrows ( eleven) out at 30, 50, 60 and 70 yards out. So I purchased another one for my ground squirrel / coyote rifle ( S&W AR 15 ). This scope I have had for some time and been shooting various non lead bullets ( Live in ca ) once I find the right one I will call Leupold and they can build me another turret just like the one I saw on your custom CDS video with Tim Lesser. If I can shoot as accurate as you were shooting out to 600 yards with my AR I will be extremely happy. Now, do I replace and purchase another Leupold scope for my .25 cal FX Bocat MK2 air rifle?

You wont get an answer from these guys mate but I'd be checking your local gunshops. The VX3-i 3.5-10:40 is under $1000.

Well, you answered your own question there. You install on zero. The dial itself has a Zero on it. It goes from 0-6 with tons of hash marks in between. So what you do is first zero your rifle normally. Just like you zero in rifle like everyone else. Once you have that set, you take that dial off. Then you put on custom dial. Boom. The scope has a little hash mark on the actual metal of the scope. Line that hash mark with the 0 in the 0-6 list. That zero is your new zero.
