I have this scope with the "Pig Plex" on 2 rifles. Marlin 1895, 45-70 and a Henry steel sidegate, .360 Buckhammer. This a perfect application as both calibers are 150-200 yard capable.

I bought mine at Optic Planet, they had the scope and mount for $199. I put this on my BCM Recce 16 and it works great. It's a good scope for the money plus great warranty.

I bought the same scope back in January of this year for $169.00 out of OKC. It was cheaper than some of the same Leupold scopes on the internet, but, once I paid shipping, and taxes, it came out to about nearly the same as ordering it like from OpticsPlanet. Anyway, I supported a local shop, so no worries there. I have issue with mine, it's not as clear as I thought it should be. I have an old Bushnell 2.5x20mm, that I bought in the 70's, and I hate to say it, but the glass is clearer on the Bushnell. But, I wanted a scope with variable power, just a bit of help when I have to make a longer shot in the woods, my eyes are just not what they used to be, and I have to wear glasses now. I've diddled with the adjustment many times, it comes very close to clear, but just lacks a bit that I need for clarity. Man it fits so perfect on my Ruger American 7.62x39mm bolt rifle, light, more compact size for hunting in the thicker woods. I hate to send it back to get Leupold to look at it, I've wondered if my glasses are making the focus wonky or something. I hate to have to take my glasses off to make a shot, sometimes I don't have time to.

I’m with you on the glasses. I have an astigmatism and my glasses make a definitive difference in clarity looking through optics. And it’s more pronounced on red dot/holographic type sights. I’ll have a review up on Leupold’s red dot in the next week or so that addresses that.

My recent Ebay (after Christmas) steal of a $250 NEW in a sealed box Leupold HOG 1-4X Pig Plex is the best clarity I have ever seen. LESS than 1.5X. Its not 1 power, but I can use it with both eyes open, so maybe 1.25X. They discontinued it so they could make cheaper made versions. I have seen people pay up to $400 for these USED! Bonus: I found a mounted but never used Leupold VX2 1-4X with the duplex fine reticle. $265. Looks untouched brand new. BOTH are a feathery 8.1 ounces. The lightest 1-4X scopes ever made. My high offset rings weight 1.3 ounces each.

@@john99777 - I don’t know for sure but I think so. I installed the battery and it lit up. Later I picked the scope up and it was on. Then I took the battery out and put the scope away. I didn’t have time to get familiar with it as I have had house guests. Now I’m looking for an additional scope.

I have many old leupolds (many) love them. Thought I'd try a freedom. Would not hold zero. Gave them another chance. Could dial in a little elevation on a 22 hornet and would not return to zero. Done with them. Thair are so many good scopes on the market today leupolds are not as important as thay once were. Don't like the freedom series.

You have to start with the 3HD series and up nowadays. Those are all spot on quality still.
