SPRAT Level 1 Training: Performing a pick-off rescue of a casualty that is in ascent mode. Approaching casualty on an adjacent set of ropes, the candidate performs a change-over of the casualty from ascent mode to descent mode. The candidate then performs a rescue from descent.
The intent of this rescue is to show options for rescuing a casualty that is in ascent on long ropes that will stretch while trying to be transferred over.
The RAD style method creates a mechanical advantage system for the rescuer to help lift the patient. This is ideal if the rescuer is the same size or smaller than the casualty.
