Level 1 Wretch - Astel, Naturalborn of the Void (No Hit) (Elden Ring)

The adventures of Stickman. Behold his unprecedented crusade against the foes of the Lands Between, and enjoy his torment as he attempts to clear every hurdle with his trusty club (and now a sword for special situations).
Today, we see him go against Astel, Naturalborn of the Void.
Overall attempts: 177 (Won on 178)
Story:
If you are having trouble with the gravity attack (the one where you get hit and float into the air), try to look at his head for the first part of the attack (which will tell you when to dodge) and listen for the pincer sounds for when to dodge the second part of the attack. I believe he clicks 3 times in groups of 2 (dodge after you hear the last group).
Stickman acquired another club and leveled it to +17. Three talismans were used (Blue Dancer, Radagon's Soreseal, and Green Turtle), as well as the Flask of Wondrous Physick (Greenspill and Greenburst Crystal Tears). This guy was pretty fun! The design is absolutely incredible, and probably one of my favorites so far.

You are basically a god. I have 115 hours and I am not even close to done yet lol. Been scouring every square inch to find every dungeon and catacomb but damn I am nowhere near this good lol. I chose spellcaster because that is what I usually do in rpg games and I feel it makes it harder for some fights because of running out of mana, and you have to fight close anyways in order to dodge properly so I might as well just have a sword. Melee does way more dmg too. I am lvl 96 and I hit for about the same per great glintstone shard as your lvl 1 does with a club.

You are too kind. I hope your adventures have been fulfilling so far! I've yet to use spells in Elden Ring, but I've heard they can be pretty fun and are more optimized than some of the previous souls games. And if using spells is a good avenue for you to enjoy the game, then go for it! I'm sure that with time, you'll be a spellcasting god! In the end, the fight itself is the best experience for me, and melee has always been my go-to for handling these encounters. I love the intimacy and thrill you get from getting a few hits in, then dodging their attacks.

Thank you! Usually, for big fights like this, they can range from relatively manageable (50-100 attempts) and relatively difficult with an immense learning curve (100 at best, possibly up to 500+ at worst, so far). I should note that this is my first run-through of the game, so all of these death counts you see in the description are the raw, uneducated, first-time encounters with these bosses.

The talismans used can be pretty useful! Also, I'm pretty sure bosses have certain weaknesses, and I think Astel is weak to Strike damage (the club has this attribute).
