What can i say...this is how we love Level42. MK on Jaydee, Phil on drums, Mike on keys and Boon on guitar...playing a classic Mr. Pink, as my friend Simon Cowbell would say. Absolutly loved it!

lmw289: It's a Jaydee bass, made by John Diggins in the UK. Go to John's website; there's loads very comprehensive info there about the Jaydee basses Mark played.

Mark King and Mike Lindup Made this band the way it was. I'm not in any way trying to detract from the Gould brothers: they were awesome, too!!! I just can't understand why there are so many -6's to rate them. I've been a fan of Level 42 for over 20 years and will never shy away from being as such! Level 42 will always be awesome to me! Sorry if anybody dosen't think the same.

Brillliant - they were at the top of their game then.

I’m a fan, but find Mark King ‘aggressive’ on this: the tone, the posturing, the histrionics. This kind of performance left people divided at the time: and the band open to criticism. The Gould’s and Lindup were like patient investors, supporting the exploits (and collateral damage) of - a fire breathing dragon. But look at King now: he did get it right.

I kind of get what your saying to be honest looking back...but you've got to agree it is extremely entertaining!

easily one of my favorite songs. What's interesting to me is comparing Les Claypool's style with Mark's. Les has such an economy of motion that he often seems to be not moving enough for all of the notes he's playing. Mark, on the other hand, is just flailing about it seems a wonder he has so much precision in his playing.

I know someone told me once before on here, but someone please tell me what kind of bass Mark's playing on this video? I know he's played Alembics. But, WHAT is playing in THIS video? Anybody?
@thewomble15093 ай бұрын
A bit late but it was a Jaydee Supernatural. Jaydee are an English company founded by a man called John Diggins (JD). Interestingly, after years of playing Status Graphite basses, king has just gone back to Jaydee.

@hurry2014 Not on par. Stanley isn't all that. I have three of his albums and they're boring as hell. Any video of his I pull up on youtube he's just playing that same old riff from School Days- he's a one trick pony. He could never play what Mark just played up above. He has a reputation because he was one of the first slapper but I haven't really seen him do much with it.
