Mike Lindup is my favorite member in the band. He comes from a musical family (his father was a film & TV composer, his mother is a famous actress/singer from Belize), he was classically trained and kicks so much ass on the synths, and his falsetto singing is an amazing compliment to Mark King’s baritone vocals. It also doesn’t hurt that the album this song was from was produced by Earth Wind & Fire.
@WrvrUgoThrUR2 жыл бұрын
He's what brought me here. He not only plays masterfully, but his parts fit the songs perfectly. Similar to what Bernie Worrell did with Parliament Funkadelic. His synth parts basically make the record and steal the show....quietly.
@nhlazyarse Жыл бұрын
He bridged the gaps of King bass brilliantly with his harmony and synth. I agree very talented yet, not mentioned as heavily as King. Defiantly partnered King style of jazz funk perfectly.

Mark could well have been the best in the world, but if he was, it was quite an achievement, because he was up against some pretty stiff competition!!, Entwistle, McCartney, MacVie, to name but 3... however, there were dozens!

One of Level 42's tracks featuring Mike Lindup's vocals extensively. Incredibly, Mike's mother is still living. Nadia Evadne Cattouse (born 2 November 1924) is a Belizean-born British actress, singer and songwriter. Although sadly, Mike's father, the composer David Lindup, died in 1992.

Such a fabulous song and the first one from this amazing group that I really recall listening to in 1983 when I was 9. They then went on to dominate the UK charts for the rest of the fantastic 80s. On my 30th birthday I treated myself to a ticket to see them at York Barbican and took my mum-unfortunately she went out at half time as said she wasn’t keen so she missed all the greatest hits, but I had a fabulous time as the second half was just an 80s nostalgia trip. Favourite song has got to be “Its over”- great lyrics and the tune is so sad but really memorable. Also Mike and Mark were extremely easy on the eye as well as brilliant musicians on the keys and THAT bass. Wow!

Though I live on the edge time is on my side All the doors to my life are open wide Just as long as the wheels keep on turning 'round I will live for the groove 'til the sun goes down Living it up, living it up I can feel it Living it up Is it a crazy notion? Living it up, living it up I can feel it Living it up I got forward motion I don't wanna go to war, I don't wanna go to war I said I know what I want and I don't wanna go war - do you follow me? I saw a soldier standing in a bar Looked so tired he'd come so far He said "I need to love someone, before they drop the atom bomb" There's a girl at the back making eyes at me And her hair long and black is a sight to see But I get kind of scared when love's around I just live for the groove 'til the sun goes down Living it up, living it up I can feel it Living it up Is it a false emotion? Living it up, living it up I can feel it Living it up I got forward motion So I'm a-taking you out but I'm a-faking I'm married to the beat But to the music I gave the heart I could have given you Still there's something 'bout the way that you move And the way that people stare it's the shock of the new I want my friends to see me standing next to you The sun goes down Time is on my side I don't care what they say I'll enjoy the ride But I get kind of scared when I turn around So I'll stay with the groove 'til the sun goes down Living it up Living it up I can feel it Living it up I got forward motion Ooh - watch her dance There must be one like her in every club in every town But I don't mind if that the way she wants to be There's something 'bout her that reminds me of me She's my soul mate - we'll be together 'til the sun goes down The sun goes down Living it up Living it up I can feel it Living it up I got forward motion
