What I love about this Chris is that you’re not trying to imitate Mark. You’ve been honest about your approach, but your harmonies work well with Natalie who has a terrific voice. Clearly a huge production effort into getting this to sound as good as it does, the result of which is one of the best tributes to L42 I’ve heard. Well done guys.
@Doc40Hz4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Keith :) I can't imitate Marks vocals at all, my accent (Scottish) just makes it sound different. I thought best to just go for it and hope for the best. The production is by Graeme, the keyboard player and our sound engineer. He gets very good results very quickly - overall I think it was probably about 10 hours of studio time for the recordings. I'm lucky to be working with such good musicians!

Love the fact that you are not doing a straight out impression of Level 42. This is your interpretation. Your singing is different from Mark and Mike- and brilliant for it. Excellent performance of the songs made famous by the band (Level42) The name works well to, he was a milkman from Kansas City ? Even got the pink lighting....Very nice with the lady( Natalie ) singing Lindup's harmony parts. She is a very good singer and valuable part of the line up. I would double the length of any guitar solos played as you don't have a sax player I am a fan already and as a bass player this is not so easy to do AND sing. Hope you can take your band out to tour soon I am sure you are gonna be very popular. Bit of a bummer having to move to the I O W. Promoters should start to wake up soon

This is pure ear candy. You are a very talented bunch. Instrumentally it is completely on point, and you've actually surpassed the original vocals here with that judicious autotune. I dare say Lindup is probably watching this wishing he'd found a Natalie back in 1980; it's so lovely to hear these classics being sung in the top end.

Stumbled across this looking for some more Mr Pink tutorials! Not sure why 4 people have given you a thumbs down? Mental. It’s often difficult listening to tribute acts because they’re always going to be compared to the original band, but when you can listen to this and think, yeah, that’s bloody good, without worrying about L42, then I’d say you’ve nailed it. Awesome stuff 👍👍👍

Thanks Darren, apologies for the late reply. Wasn't notified of the comments! It's a difficult choice to be honest, but overall I think the Status sounds a bit better and the neck is far more stable. If I could only have one, it would probably be the Status.
