Hi Wade! What would you sell me, ace or klingon, if I don't really need rand skirt?
@oscoastierob2 жыл бұрын
Been running an Ace for about 4 years now (which replaced my 15-20 year old Perception/Harmony EZ Rand I’d been using for years. After 4 years of pretty significant use my Ace is still going strong. I bought a second one to have as a backup due to supply chain but haven’t had to use the new one yet. Great skirt for a lot cheaper than it’s competition (and in my opinion better than it’s competition).

Good feedback on the older model I have never used one before this one but have seen them around
@oscoastierob2 жыл бұрын
@@WadeHarrison yeah the biggest difference between the older model and the new model is that the old model has a glued rand and it isn’t stitched. But it’s solid, 4 years and mine doesn’t have any wear around the rand where it’s glued. The other difference is that the older model has a slightly different type of rubber on the rand. The older rubber isn’t quite as squishy/flexible. It’s still very good and dry for a rand it’s just slightly harder to get on the cockpit than the newer version. The other thing the old one has that it looks like they’ve removed from the new version is the pocket across the inside that holds an optional plastic bar. (I’m guessing this is to make it easier to pop the skirt with your knees if you can’t pull it with the tab).

Great review, Wade - helped me decide. In case no one has noticed, Level Six has a refurb section on their site as well. They have certain sized "blem" Ace and Kings. I ordered an Ace for $45 plus shipping CAD - that's practically free for 'Muricans ;-). The blemish is in the top stitching.

@@WadeHarrison well, I'm a few weeks in with it now and overall I like it! It's not quite as dry as my Snap Dragon Lips skirt (it has an awesome nealr-seamless rubber rand), but as they don't make it anymore it was the Ace or the IR equivalent which is much more expensive and heavier. I playboat a lot on flat water so keeping things light is where it's at for me. Great skirt for the price, would recommend!

The king (notch below the ace) was my go-to for a handful of years until covid shut their production down and there were none available in 2021 (they used that time to redesign their line). The previous line was definitely a small step down in quality from IR but the price point was a few steps down. I didn’t mind repairing tears/holes and spots where the seam tape was delaminating because I was still saving a bunch of $ (and I think they look better anyways). The king only imploaded on me once in my 4 years of using it on canon falls and that was probably my fault anyways. It was super dry and I had no complaints.

Nice good feedback buddy and I think I was there the day you were both ran cannon

I originally bought the large cockpit/large tunnel. Not a chance I was ever gonna get the large cockpit size on either my LL Alpha 75 or my Antix 2.0 Medium. So, at Wade’s suggestion, I exchanged it for the XL, which is still quite tight brand new. The Large Tunnel is appropriately sized. I typically use a medium, but wanted the large for use with drysuit. It may be the better choice for the Antix 2, which has a pretty small and short cockpit rim. A rand skirt is definitely stiffer than a bungee, but it was super dry.

Glad it worked out I'm going to order me a second one for winter also and getting it in XL cockpit

I didn’t really need another skirt, but you were so enthusiastic about it, I bought one. However, the Large cockpit was nowhere near big enough for my LL Alpha 75… gotta exchange.
@WadeHarrison2 жыл бұрын
I’m wearing it on a LL cockpit in this thumbnail I put this one on a Dagger Code Pyranha Scorch And a Liquid logic and it fit all of them at first it was little tough to get on but after a few uses it works perfect and mine is a LG cockpit size. The XL will probably be fine either way
@macfawlty2 жыл бұрын
@@WadeHarrison ok, thanks for confirming it will indeed fit. Ive only used one skirt, the IR Klingon bungee. I know they’re always pretty tight the first few times. It just looked like it was miles away from the proper size.

I have the older version of the Level Six Ace. I wore a hole through the Kevlar area on the side of the skirt in about 6 months. Yes I rub it with my paddle a lot, but it took about two years for the same issue with an IR Klingon. Luckly I live outside of Hood River so I had IR patch the Ace, so I'm still using it and like it quite a bit, however I'm curious to see how yours wears.

I have heard mixed opinions of the older level six skirts like I said I’m about 2 months in and really like how this one’s doing and awesome you live right there by the factory now

@@WadeHarrison This is an interesting conversation about the older Ace and the new Ace. My older one was a very average skirt and wore pretty easily, so it's good to know if the new one is much improved. Regardless, I am about to throw away my old Ace and replace it with a new Pro Rand

Have you rolled with this skirt? Just bought this on the guidance of my local shop. Been practicing rolls and notice a fair bit of water coming in. Is this just generally common with rolls?
@daire10122 жыл бұрын
Are you wearing it too high up on your waist? I was noticing the same problem with my last deck and the issue ended up being I was wearing it too high up and would pull it slightly off the cockpit when I rolled
