Since 2016, Lidl has brought #SeriousSupport to the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and its members on a local and national level by investing over €4million. During this time, we have seen a shift in attitudes towards the game with support rising to an all time high with multiple attendance records broken. And yet a significant gap still exists between ladies Gaelic footballers and their male counterparts at all levels of the game.
Shot on location in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow way back in early 2020, the campaign is a visual representation of the uphill battle that ladies’ Gaelic footballers and women in sport face in striving for equality.

More modern divisive nonsense, noone is holding women back, youre pandering for ESG points. You could have made a positive and genuinely inclusive message.

Who are the 'they' they're referring to? Who's holding ladies football back? My daughter has played for years, and me and plenty other father's supported them, now I wonder if this is the usual 'them and us' messaging, = men holding women back. Hopefully someone can explain the messaging to me, maybe I'm missing something.

Women are held back in most aspects of life, by the conscious and unconscious actions of people in power. The fact that you feel attacked by this ad is something you might want to reflect on.

This is yet another "women have it so tough" ad. Who is holding you back girls? Who is stopping you from playing GAA? Who is holding you back or depriving you of anything? This is a cynical attempt by lidl to jump on some sort of bandwagon!

As an oul fella, who would have played Gaelic Football on actual honest to God "fields" with slopes and stones or boggy bits in the middle, not to mention great patches of cows shite, I think this ad overdoes the "they" told us guff. Alot and I mean a hell of a lot of "theys" were there, at the start, to set up ladies teams and coach them and transport them. Playing up the slope or accross it, was great craic. Togging out in the car or ditch and crossing 2 fields to get to the hilly pitch......................... Now most clubs have 1 or 2 pitches and clubhouses. Put there by "theys", women and men giving selflessly of their time for others! Great goal, by the way! And the togs are gas!
