Hello, how are you? I have a question, please: What is the lifespan of CNC machines? Does the quality of their work decrease over time?

Thanks for the 4th axis content! Keep it coming.

Hi. Looking into getting a 4th axis to improve processing speeds. Do you ship to Ireland? Would like to open a discussion with you regarding this smart plate
@Wyllie38 Жыл бұрын
We made a very similar sort of plate for our 4 axis. Great stuff.

Hey Jay, how come I dont see the renishaw tool Probe setter on your machine?
@PiersonWorkholding11 ай бұрын
Most of our machines don't have probes. We program using standardized origins and then model the workpiece, stock and workholding in CAM. Doing it that way means we never have to probe to find a part and eliminate setup time altogether.

Amazing product as always Jay! I would like to note that certain (SMALLER) CNCs might not support / like having such a level force at the side. When you take in account the weight of the rotary + SmartPlate, i believe there's proper planning and calculation needed. For example, the Haas Super Mini Mill 2 can take 227 kg (500lb) of weight DISTRIBUTED EVENLY. But having all weight sitting on the side is going to reduce this max load significantly. Sadly i dont have specific numbers, but im sure Haas / your machine manafacturer can provide them. Just my two cents.

Good points. That's on the machine tool manufacturer to advise. The SmartPlate only adds 20lbs to the setup.

What's the deflection when hanging the rotary off the table on the cantilever?
@PiersonWorkholding Жыл бұрын
FAR less than any tool deflection.

Will you also offer a plate to go under an a-frame support for larger tombstones that is the same thickness as the Smart plate?
@PiersonWorkholding Жыл бұрын
Yes! Coming soon as an add on accessory.

This has been what has kept me from adding a rotary table to my VF2SSYT. Now I just may get one. Which rotary table is that in the video?
@PiersonWorkholding Жыл бұрын
That's an HRT160. Any 210 size is preferred in my opinion.
@ov3753 Жыл бұрын
Which Haas rotary indexers this unit supports?
@PiersonWorkholding Жыл бұрын
From the smallest HA5C indexer all the way up to an HRT-310 or any indexer with 2-bolt mounting and a center to center spacing under 8.5".

Does this work with the 5c rotary?
@PiersonWorkholding Жыл бұрын
Yes! Any indexer or rotary with a 2-bolt mounting system is compatible.

Maybe not your intended purpose, but you just gave me a great idea. (I can't often convince my boss of new ideas. We are a small shop and they are still skiddish...) I only have a Super Spacer. Can't talk them into a 4th axis. Yet. Maybe I can adapt your concept into one that will fit the Super Spacer? 😁 That way, I can be lazahmmmm. I mean never have to take it off the machine again. I love that idea. Upon further review, my boss came up to me today and suggested we get a rotary axis. Like wtf are the chances? Now I know where I can buy a plate from. 🤣🤣

Oh boy. You should see what the 4th axis is for the Duravertical 5100 is. That thing is so wide (because direct drive) and it even sits inward of the table of about 3 inches for the cable. It turns a 41" table to 12" for your vise. (accounting for space of the 7" long Tombstone). That being said. I kinda think it should be able to move over to the right some. But that cable is thick, and machine walls are close to the table. So maybe not. :(

This product would be great with an adjustable tail stock. Lehmann makes something like what I’m describing but the offset from the table idea you have is great.
