M39 EMR and M14 EBR are essentially the same weapon. One is 'made' a Quantico for the USMC, the other at Rock Island for the Army. The different services use different optics, but the rifle remains the same.

The Mk14 EBR is manufactured out of a lightweight alloy, and it is spec'd with an 18" barrel, a weight of less than 12 lbs, and length of 35". It;s a light weapon capable of providing intense fire. The M39 EMR is spec'd with a 22" barrel, a weight of over 16 lbs, and an overall length of 44". This rifle was issued to offer accuracy at relatively longer range than the standard combat issue setup. The 7.62mm round also has more punch than the 5.56mm round that the M16/M4 rifles are chambered in.

They are two similar guns but they are diferent guns. The Mk14 EBR was designed for the Navy SEALs and designed for high rates of fire. The M39 EMR was designed for the USMC and is designed to replace the DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) offering more accurate and potent accuracy than the M14/M16/M4 rifles. Both rifles are built off of the M14 frame, but there are several differences.

I agree. The first thing LvlCap says is "Sniper Sunday. The series where I'm gonna try and get better at sniping" but a semi-auto sniper with anything less than a 8x scope is basically a way around playing assault with your recon class in my honest opinion. I don't mean to bag but I don't think this will get you better at sniping and I also think your viewers would appreciate sniper footage with a high magnification scope where playing aggressively (like in this video) would be very difficult

Tips for Recon users.. 1st and most important thing; use the recon spawn and try to get your squad to flank the other team. 2nd- If youre in a small map [metro] use tugs w/ smg. For big maps use xbow [anti LAV/chopper] or MAV [put it on top of a building and defend that spot] w/ semi/boltR 3rd- change class! become a medic to help push foward, defend your spot with C4s, put mines, etc. If you really need the sniperR then use the XBOW. You really need explosives on large maps [lots of vehicles];)

The title is correct, it's the M39 EMR. There's no such thing as an M39 EBR. I think people are confusing it with the Mk 14 EBR, which is a similar modernized M14, but they're not the same. The M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle (EMR) has a 22" barrel, is semi-auto only and retains most of the standard M14 parts aside from the stock. The Mk 14 Enhance Battle Rifle (EBR) has an 18" barrel, is capable of full auto fire and has various enhancements to the gas system, sights and bolt release.

No, it is the M39 Enhanced Marksmens Rifle. The Mk.14 EBR is a battle rifle, meant to be used when the standard intermediant cartridge is not effective or at a farther range that normal, not a marksmen rifle which would be used by a designated marksman to take out targets too far for the rest of the squad to kill.

yes, it is a mp5 with a shortened barrel for fighting in confined spaces. just google it, there are tons of pictures. it looks exactly like it does in game

I use an ebr with iron sight and bipod, the bipod turns the gun into a rail gun with very little kick. I deploy the bipod when there is snipers in unreachable spots, wait for them to pop out, then mash the trigger for a quick kill at very long ranges

If you aren't using a high zoom scope i would recommend the foregrip. It actually reduces horizontal AND vertical recoil on semi-auto snipers, the accuracy penalty is not that much at medium range. That said you can put a bipod and rifle scope on this thing and kill it at long range as well. I like to split the difference with the 3.4x

Yes, Foregrip do make the gun shitty on distance for Assault Rifle, but from actual In-Game Testing, Foregrip DOES reduce both kinds of recoil for the M39 EMR. I personally did a test for myself when I start using this gun. It depends what kind of player are you afterall. For me, I put foregrip because it reduce recoil, and Im more like a marksman instead of sniper, so therefore I could go CQB somtimes.

A freind of mine was a 19 Delta US Army Cavalry Scout. While he was deployed to Iraq, he was his squad's designated marksman and his weapon was an M4 with a red dot sight and a fore grip.

I like how you use a semi-auto sniper Level...most recons who use semi-autos spam the hell out of the gun and hit everything but the target, but you takes your time and place your shots and you get a good ammount of kills, nice work!

EMR is actually its real name given to it by the Corps. it's a very effective M-14 placed in a more marksman-friendly (adjustable cheekpiece and all that jazz) stock.

technically the MK14 MOD0 designation is for the Navy. What the M39 EMR really replaced was the M14 DMR or the US Marine Corp Designated Marksman Rifle.

The M14 is a battle rifle. The M14 EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle) is a fixed up version of the M14. The M39 EMR (Enhanced Marksman Rifle) is a more sniperish version of the EBR.

Around the 2 min mark you were talking about how Recon only receive their equipment once per death, but like and EOD bot you can resupply them both from ammo crates given you can sit there for 5-10 sec after you ammo is full.

There was a similar rifle in Bad Company 2 called the M14 Mod 0 Enhanced, M14 EBR. I recognise that they're completely different weapons but when you compare them, they both look very similar and perform the same role. So I'd imagine that's why people get the names mixed up!

SKS Without the heavy barrel is 440. SKS with the heavy barrel is 590 (as you said). The M39 is 570, and cannot equip a heavy barrel, and has the highest bullet velocity of all the other semi-auto snipers. So with the SKS you have smaller spread, lower vertical recoil, and a big mag like the M-417... Just wondering if he has ever used it with a red dot or holo as an intermediate to close range weapon as he is doing with the M39.

EMR and EBR are just different modifications of the same rifle. The difference is quite minimal, so it doesn't matter at all for the FPS game. It would matter only if you are in a real war presented with the choice between the two.

If I remember correctly the m5k actually looks more similar to a Vz. Czechoslovakian style sub-machine that has been modernized. The closest thing that I can think of in bf3 that looks like an actual mp5 is the support classes "G53" except that an actual mp5 is more compact and fires 9mm rounds.

Actually, both EBR and EMR mods exist, just not for the same gun. The M14 EBR is not a sniper therefore uses the Enhanced Battle Rifle. EMR is used to upgrade SNIPER rifles.

Well, it depends on how you play, if he is using the recon class as a crane sniper that you are right, but if he is being aggressive, then he could be playing the objective. Also, the xbow does have a scan bolt...

IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and APC (Armored Personal Carrier) are nearly the same. U can also use both. An APC is more based on trasporting infantry. A IFV is more for supporting them. And u can also use the amtrac as IFV ;)

Lvl, interesting point about the flash light at long range but maybe take into account how good it is for Counter-Sniping, as when a sniper aims at you, his scope blurs and moves about.

that's because the M39 EMR is basically (small differences) the same gun as the Mk14 EBR that was in Bad Company 2. As far as the EMR goes, it's my favourite gun in BF3. Love it with the holosight - or if I want to countersnipe, a 4x Acog (and lazors to annoy snipers! also Supp Spec) it's just a damn shame it's only for Recon, instead of an All-class weapon like it was in BC2 where I could be anti-tank with an M14

Not exactly. The gun is based off the m14. And you can find many military people using it with low scopes. You can also find a lot of eotech Holosights on the M14 EBR which is almost a spitting image of the M39 EMR. One of the snipers from Black Hawk Down used an Aimpoint on his M14, that has no magnification.

I agree. My issues are with not being able to kill with a headshot at any range and most of the people who use them. They spam their bullets which is great for suppression but not killing, if they gained some patience and discipline their killing capability would improve drastically.

To me, nothing beats the SKS with reflex and heavy barrel. Sometimes I use grip, and sometimes I just leave that slot open. It is the most accurate semi auto with the best recoil- to me. I did love the M417 when it first arrived, but dice messed it up with new patches.

I prefer the tugs over the mav because I often find that the mav blocks me from getting into cover rather than my enemy. Also, every now and then I accidentaly go into the mav when placing it, and it is a pain to come back out and it sometimes causes my death.

I would love an SKS review in your weapon review sections. It is the only sniper rifle that can equip a heavy barrel, with that option giving it the highest bullet velocity of all. I use this with a holo scope, but would like your thoughts on using a foregrip or not, and versus the other auto snipers. Great assault weapon with added range.

agreed. I never use anything more than the PKA 3.4x with the M39. I felt exactly the same way as lvlcap when I tried out the M39 with a holo. It's definitely a magical combination.

well he carried an M4 on his tour, perhaps he mis-repesented himself as the DM, but I had a long conversation with him over facebook about it after he posted a pic of himself with his weapon while he was over there, Sadly he is no longer with us, he was fatally injured during a training excersize at Ft. Irwin, CA back on February 21 2013. I still have the photo of him and the weapon is clearly an M4

Lvl cap forgot to say that the MAV can destroy enemy equipment also If you aim at equipment and press the trigger it will normally destroy the device(mines, C4, spawn beacons, EOD bots). Like in the endgame maps I have gotten kills on people with C4 on the bike with the MAV.

This is my favourite rifle in the game, and I personally disapprove when people use the EOTech, because it is a Marksman Rifle, not a spam cannon. With the 8x, it Ivan be a more effective rifle than bolt actions, and it has a higher bullet velocity than the SV98. Suppress your foe to put them in your killing zone.

The first one I see not spamming the fire button. I see a lot of semi auto snipers shooting the gun as fast as they can, in result they have to reload after each kill. To be good with the semi auto sniper rifles are aim and timing between shots, if you have that right, then you can become MVP each map with a great accuracy higher then 40% or even better(unless their is a assault guy who knows how to play the class and uses the M16A3, AEK or M416).

There really is no difference between an EBR and an EMR, it all depends on what roll it was chosen to fill. the M39 at it's core is a battle rifle. 7.62x51mm NATO, a Battle Rifle cartridge. It is a descendant of the M14 which is used as a Battle Rifle. When it comes down to it, the M14, the M39, the Mk21 all have the same action, the same barrel, the same guts. Each can be employed in both a BR and MR situation. So, in reality, both EBR and EMR are technically correct. I still want an M1A btw.

if you use the foregrip on the emr it has less recoil vertical recoil then the m417 with a foregrip

You can land headshots rather easily with the holo up to around 100 meters, wich is enough for TDM.

I agree that a few of the semi-auto snipers are abused sometimes, but a vast majority of them are shunned because they are so impractical in most situations. Look at the M39, when I tried to get the 50 kills with it for the premium assignment, I could not do it in Rush. I had to go to TDM to get any kills with it because it's just not useful against groups of enemies. Aside from the SKS and M417, the other semi-autos are pretty lack luster.

Okay so I've been using this weapon since forever, right now I'm standing third place on the M39 leaderboard for PC with most kills for it (according to BF3stats.com). My setup: Holo sight, foregrip, sometimes laser sight depending on the map. The reason why I use the foregrip is because I maintai na trigger discipline, meaning that I don't spam the shit out of it.

The only problem I have with this game are ribbons for nearly each kill. I have played a lot of shooters back in the days (UT2004, Enemy Territory) and I can't see why there has to be flashy "rewards" for doing something normal from game play perspective.

I find SKS with Russian 3.4 X scope bipod and heavy barrel, play TDM and get to those cover spots for accurate and high damaging fire

I've gotten a lot of kills with the M417 at long ranges. But that was before the patch. I still use it for close to mid ranges. And every once in a while I do get a long range kill with it. That's of the target isn't moving lol. I just like the feel and the look of the weapon better then the other rifles. The M39 I'll give it a chance later. To see what the fuss is about.

Whene ever I use the M-39 EMR, I tend to use a U.S. HOLO w/ fore grip and supp. Or U.S. reflex w/ foregrip and supp. It's also my best sniper rifle, I the more M39 attachments than any other sniper rifle in BF3.
