Yes, looks good but may be too little too late. Doesn't seem that there are Operations. Doesn't look like Canadians are in it. They already ruined Operations anyways. Game released with horrible gunplay. Game is half desert maps. They did a shit job releasing this game and the DLC, even though the first DLC showed a lot of promise.

Yeah, the spotting mechanic really ruins the game for me.. you end up just shooting at little red markers rather than actual enemies... I usually only play on hardcore but there aren't as many servers.

These maps are not at the end of WWI. Caporetto began in October 1917, Passchendaele began July 1917, and the Somme was in 1916. The war ended November 11, 1918.

The battle of Caporetto ended the same day it started, in 1917, with the defeat of italian troops and their retreat on the Piave river. In the intro of the operation on mount Grappa (that is part of the Vittorio Veneto battle of 1918) the italian soldier says that they are seeking revenge for Caporetto, and they found it with the final defeat of Austro-Hungarian Empire (Armistice of Villa Giusti, 4th november 1918).

Zach young none of those battles lasted into 1918. Caporetto ended officially november 19, 1917, Passchendaele ended November 10th, 1917, and the Somme ended November 18th, 1916. Just for reference, the longest battle of the war was Verdun, which lasted from February to december 1916. So yeah, levelcap was wrong on that.

The thing about it is if someone has over 100 ping the game feels really shit. You get killed in one frame. You get killed by people around corners before you even see them. That is most likely why someone called hacks on Level, because he was playing on European servers with a ping of over 100.

w w totally agree I barely play conquest and dislike hot spots in ~500 meter maps. Operations feels so inmersive and rewards teamplay more than any other mode.

Howell Automatic is actually just a bolt-action SMLE MKIII with a gas system mod that cycles the bolt after each shot. Awesome to see it in-game I gotta say.

It seems the only two maps I’m looking forward to are the Somme and Paeschandale. Nobody wanted a WWI game because of Trench warfare, but now that’s exactly what this game needs. BF1 hasn’t had nearly enough trenches as it should have. Also LevelCap calling another player trash at 10:25 after accusing him of hacking is pure gold.

i understand your point but still i think there are several maps and modes like Operation where trench warfare is very important and sometimes if played well it makes it for the attacker team very hard to move on (objective impact), for example all french maps except verdun heights have quite big trench systems. Thats also the reason why i prefer operation or frontline more than conquest where i think the main mechanic refers more to an open TDM game with flags so trenches have no proper use.

Steel Paw Canada was apart of the British empire during this time hence why they fought with the British, they didn’t mention Australians and New Zealanders in the first turning tides maps it was just the British army. So really I think DICE aren’t being attentive with those aspects (even though they definately should be) but there is enough factions in battlefield 1, don’t be sour that Canada didn’t make the part.

It seems like nobody really understands the enormous contribution Canada made to the war effort and how effective they really where. The Germans would literally avoid Canadian troops as to minimize their casualties, and often referred to them as storm troopers. Sure they were apart if the British Empire at the time but in no way were they similar to the brits. Canadian troops were also the first to not be detered by mustard gas and figure out that urinating in a rag severly lessons the effects. It's sad to see dice completely disregard and disrespect their accomplishments.

Who knows, maybe they'll add a vimy ridge operation, I'd love that. I know they made large contributions in other battles too but vimy ridge is one of the most famous Canadian victories in WW1. I also looked at the battle map and it would definitely work in bf1.

Battlefield dlc was always released throughout the war and the dlc told the stort of the war. The base game was the beginning so everything looked fresher and more green. Throughout the dlc, the maps got more wartorn

That new medic rifle is actually a semi-auto version of the SMLE that they made a few of back in the day. It's got a piston on the side attached to a piece of metal with a groove in it that the bolt handle slides in.

The Ross rifle has the same damage model as the SMLE since they use the same caliber, that is how DICE balances damage in the game. The difference from the SMLE is that it's got less bullets but higher RoF and can cycle rounds when scoped.

For those of you asking for a map with only trenches remember this, REAL trench warfare was boring and slow, if dice were to do this, it'd be impossible to use shotguns or anything other than snipers or anything long range like. It'd be impossible to get close to enemies because if they decide to do no mans land correctly, no one would survive half the way there. REAL trench warfare was like this. If this was put in the game there will be alot of hardscoping and camping. Just think about it and watch videos about trench warfare, and maybe after you do you'll realize why dice hasn't done it. So that the game won't be boring by being in the same spot and literally dying as soon as you peek out

Paschendaele and Caporetto look awesome but I think DICE is forgetting that the Somme was blown up for three or four days with British artillery strikes to get rid of the barbed wire and hazards in no man's land.

Noah Tellez but what about Vimy Ridge? Canada took that ridge by themselves within days while other countries couldn’t. I understand what you are saying. Canada did not become an individual country at the time. But in the battle of passchandeale that was also Canada fighting the Germans. I just don’t understand why some of these companies never include Canada in their games and add other countries that aren’t important in the game.

Nah the Ross is nothing special at all... just shots so fast as the M95 and can reload in ADS and still has sweetspot its not like the M95 has no sweetspot because of balance or something.. but its a DLC weapon so thats ok right? 🤔🙄

I quite enjoy conquest assault and like the 'storming by sea' aspect of the maps in turning tides. I can see why they do it as it's a way of recreating the battles of WWI which is quite cool. Plus it is fun to storm an objective as a large team. I have seen some epic moments as well! For example, the enemy captured A as their first flag on Heligoland. I was stood on B and an army of players came rushing down the beaches. It felt epic and like an actual war. That wouldn't have happened on normal conquest.

All the maps look similar. Nothing stands out. I do like the one map with the island in the middle..cant remember the name. These new maps dont look like anything much different then what we already have gotten.

It seems like they all favor snipers, even the Russian DLC, though i enjoyed it. And as cool as the maps look, DICE really isn't giving people who dont care to snipe a decent option. Yeah let me just zig zag some trenches, take twice the time to get somewhere and end up dying from a sniper sitting behind a rock 200 meters away. That hill side map looks even worse, theres cover but you have to expose yourself if you want to move. The game is basically already dead on ps4 and the only players left are hardcore fans, DICE just took too long to start rolling old the dlc and by then no one cared. There's no incentive left for me to come back to the game unfortunately.

Yea I’m not liking the direction this dlc is going either. Seems boring. I still play on ps4 but no where near as much as I use too. I went back to playing bf4 some more which is fun but most of the servers I get in for conquest are all Operation Locker, Metro, or Siege of Shanghai so…yeah.

Conquest assault needs to be removed from ALL maps. I’ve had it happen to many times thanks to the god awful team balancing that you are unable to spawn at all! Conquest assault need to be removed completely from bf1.

Actually, what I think Dice needs to do is make sniping not so damn easy. No weapon sway at all right now. It's only at extreme ranges that you have to 'hold breath' to get rid of any minute sway. It's ridiculous.

@Chris There all like variations of the same template. The Vanilla maps had a larger variation. These DLC maps all seem to be open areas with trenches. The one map I do like but its really not that big ...the one with the island in the middle. But even that map is nothing special.

That isn’t a good mixture. I was just so hoping for it to be ww2, that would’ve been the more logical choice but just, why ww1 fucking hell man. I am sick of this naff if they can’t do it right, doesn’t feel like a proper battlefield to me really. You are right about them being somewhat alike in a way, but I guess what are they to do when you can’t divers them that much due to the choice of the era, war - correlates to what the maps would be like, just like weapons, combat, etc.

@Wintry The weapons ..not being able to change anything on them doesnt help the game either. Im all for going back to modern times. And release the game with everything done from day one. Ribbons, modes, hardcore etc etc. I really liked BF1 when it was new but that wore off faster then any BF game for me.

Would have been interesting if the mud-craters in Passchendaele would cause you to get stuck or make you take gas damage. IRL the gas often sank into the craters and causes them to become poisonous quicksand you would become stuck in, and comrades would just get stuck as well trying to get lads out.

I’m a player who came from call of duty, and I gotta admit that this game dominates all cod series. The first time I popped into multiplayer online I knew I’d never play cod anymore. They just did too much of a great job on this game and my only qualm is the low weapons variety, but it doesn’t bother me enough tho. Still love this game and I don’t see myself stopping or switching it’s just too dope. I love the way this game is designed, how you have more roles to play than just going around making kills. I’ve always been an advocate of strategy and this game just opens up the variety. Love it. Dice is fucking awesome and I don’t think I’d ever buy another call of duty before checking if there was a recently released battlefield, or just one I don’t own.

Conquest Assault might need tweaking. I remember BF 1942 had a neat version on Omaha Beach where the U.S. would take continuos ticket loss until they secured the beach flag.

I think dice should make a gas weather, like in passchendaele u can see gas fog outside the map, it should add wind blowing the gas into the map and forces ur character to wear gas mask.
