The ebay torsion bar tool is JUNK. Do yourself a favor and rent the real one at your auto parts store or buy one.

Love it! Glad it helped. I bagged the rear for towing and put Rancho's (non adjustable) all around just recently, too.

Which setting did you use? I just bought this and was wondering if I should go with 1 or 1.5 inch. Don’t want to worsen the ride quality. If yours was improved, that’s impressive. I drive a 2017 2500 high country duramax 4x4. Thanks.

I miss the days of video replies and pic replies would be perfect for some of these. I'm still running the stock control arms but may upgrade soon. I bagged the rear last year just redid the shocks all around and now it rides much smoother. If you have older shocks you might want to upgrade. There are affordable options, like Rancho, with a quality shock and the right height for a lift or level.

How much should it cost to install this kit ? And how long does it take ty
@WildMountainGarage3 жыл бұрын
Should it cost to install, yourself, or with someone? IDK what guys charge, but if you had a lift and the tools all handy not longer than a couple of hours max and it'd be free aside from the tools and kit. I'd say a shop should charge 2 hours, but IDK. I couldn't imagine it actually taking longer, especially with experience. The time for me was just having to jack it up on dirt then go rent the key tool when the cheapo ebay one I had didn't fit and broke.

How thick are the diff spacers and the shock spacers?

Half an inch maybe?

I heard when you level a torsion bar suspension on these trucks, it makes it ride a little more stiff. Is that true and how did your truck ride after you did the leveling kit on yours?
@WildMountainGarage4 жыл бұрын
Technically that is accurate as the torsion bar is the spring for the front and you're effectively making the spring tighter. However, the Suspension Maxx keys have multiple levels of lift depending on where you insert the bar and is designed for it so it's not like you're cranking the stock keys all the way up. Cranking the stock keys will make for awful ride quality. I wouldn't say it's stock, but it's barely noticeable with the 2" level I'm running.

@@WildMountainGarage adjusting the torsion bar does not make it tighter. The bar has x torsion rating and that never changes. You’re just changing the clock angle of the bar. There is also zero difference in cranking stock keys or installing aftermarket ones (aside from the ride height you can achieve) an aftermarket key is only clocked differently from the start. Think of a Rachet turning a bolt…if you’re only allowed to start turning it at 9 o clock to 12 o clock the aftermarket key allows you to Rachet back to 7 o clock so when you get to 12 o clock, you turned your bolt that much more. The ride roughness comes from the control arm bottoming on the droop stop or the ball joint (possibly tie rod end) being at max angle.

@@LoneWolfSnowplowing I've redone the front suspension and added uca's with clearance. I think most of the roughness was from worn joints and bushings although not enough clearance didn't help. The clocking of a torsion bar is relative to the lca port. Cranking the key will induce twist and I'm sure as with any spring there is a rate and you're adding preload with the twist and although the rate remains the same the overall dampening amount is reduced as you've changed the length effectively. Installation always happens at zero twist no matter which key is used. The aftermarket key just allows precise control of the twist and raise rate. But you could certainly crank stock keys. Thanks for watching!

I have owned alot of different tortion bar chevys those lift keys are a money grab just crank the original keys to the max is the same affect and geometry. Only thing aftermarket keys do is give you more crank than stock then at that the front gets way to stiff lol waist of time lol
