Thank you!!!! For some reason normal parenting wasn't working using the Ctrl P menu but this did! Just saved me literally hours of work!

Thank you thank you THANK YOU.... OMG I was struggling with this so much until I figured out the order that you do things is so important.... and I neglected to keyframe position at frame 21 before setting influence to 0. This is so useful.

What a GEM!. This is definitely worth to use with your explanation. I kept away from this constraint for so long, but now I'm picking it back to use it correctly. Thanks!

Thank you! And use with caution hahah, I've broken this constraint in shots many times. Play around this in a clean shot to really have a good idea of the constraint :)

Ah man thank you for this! This was killing me. Yet another example of Blender going from amazingly elegant to appallingly overcomplicated. But it is improving by the minute, hopefully this particular arena will be addressed soon.

Thank you so much. I’ve been searching for hours trying to find the correct tutorial on how to make a character grab an object and drop it down. I finally found a one that works for me. The others didn’t work for some reason. I probably did something wrong.

I use Blender 3.1.0 and in this version, if the "Child of" constraint is removed, Blender "forget" the relative position between parent and child, so if a new "Child of" constraint is applied between the same parent and its child, Blender will not apply the previous relative position. That "remember previous relative position" effect could be achieved by reusing the "Target" value of the "Child of" constraint, but not adding a whole new constraint. It's a bit confusing to me that Blender applies a previous relative position between parent and child of a deleted constraint, but maybe: am I misinterpreting the visual result at minute 1:00 of your video?

Hey, is there a way to fix the set inverse or would i have to remake it? I tend to forget to do it when it needs doing. Would have shown an example but can't send a link to the video. What am asking is, from frame 0 to 35 i need the influence to 0 then from 36 to 44 i need the influence on 1 but by putting it on 0 it randomly shifts location. I have tried to follow along as well but still doesn't seem to be in the right location.

Thanks for the video. I've been wondering if Blender could do this. Pity its not as straight forward as it should be. (in 3dsMax you just key an object or the world as a parent)

I have obtained a baked animation project, but I would like to add more animations to it. May I cancel the baking for this project? Do I only need to clear all keyframes after the first frame to undo baking? Is this idea correct? I am not very familiar with baking knowledge. I cleaned up all keyframes except for the first frame according to my own ideas and reset the correct constraints. However, when I baked and exported to UE again, the animation only applied the constraints of the first frame, and all frames after the first frame did not apply the constraints I had set, How can I make every frame of the re baked animation constrained?
@chiarae453611 ай бұрын
I have problems exporting animations done with this constraint, it is messing up the animation when I import it to unity. Is there a way to prevent this, or a way to apply the constraint to Keyframes? If there is an addon for this, or a solution please let me know

So that apply visual transform is like the apply button on modifiers?
@LevelPixelLevel4 жыл бұрын
Yeah! It is like applying the constraint. The little X next to the influence also does this, I learned that through a comment on this video :)

When I continue with keyframing the parent moving to the right, it is affecting the past keyframes of the child and making them jump, even though I keyframed dropping the child off. Help?

I find that "Set inverse" is kinda misleading in its name. It would better be "Use Offset" or "use current location"
