Work to replace and renew well-used bridges at Leven Links is due to begin in the next few weeks.
With more people expected to visit the area following the reintroduction of the rail link, councillors on the Levenmouth Area Committee agreed back in November to contribute £50,000 to help cover the construction of two new replacement bridge units and the refurbishment of one other at Leven Links Golf Course.
Contractors have now been appointed and locals and visitors alike will soon feel the benefit of the upgrades.
The main footbridge at the course - known as the Fife Coastal Path Bridge - is being replaced with a two-metre wide deck to accommodate higher footfall, while Leven Links has been working closely with Fife Coast and Countryside Trust to effectively reroute the current Fife Coastal Path over the bridge to improve the travel network from the Promenade up to Silverburn and the Town Centre.
The 18th Hole Bridge is also being replaced in its entirety, while plans are in place to improve the appearance of the Leven Thistle Clubhouse Bridge.
Two clubs play over the prestigious course, the Leven Golfing Society and Leven Thistle Golf Club, and the venue has hosted a number of high profile competitions over the years - including Open qualifying, the PGA EuroPro Tour and Paul Lawrie’s Tartan Pro Tour.
