I was fortunate enough to work 17 Open Championships between 1990-2015 for ABC/ESPN. 5 Open Championships at St.Andrew’s. Also worked 2 Women’s Open’s in 2007, and 2013. Just an incredible historical town. I’m going to enjoy watching as much golf as I can from my living room these next 4 days. What a truly historical week. God Bless you Old Tom, and Young Tom too.

That was a delight Iona. Played there in the mid 70s an experience never forgotten. Played my best most iconic drive, ever. on the 17th. With a 1 iron. Made 5 eventually on that famed road hole. When I go the memory of my round at St Andrews old course will go with me to the next great course somewhere in the cosmos. Enjoyed your input on the 150 show. Keep up the good work and keep travelling and reporting back.

I love the place but I wouldn't dream of going there during the Open week. First time I was there was in 1984, managed to blag free accommodation at the Uni buildings. Don't think we paid anything to get in to watch the golf either. Absolutely loved the place since then. Last time I watched golf there was 2018 at the Seniors Open for my 65th birthday. Much more relaxed, had a wonderful time.

Cracking video and Iona is spot on, the vibe, the history, the atmosphere of St Andrew’s oozes out of every nook & cranny. It’s a truly amazing place to visit as a golf fan - it’s not cheap but it has to be on every golfers bucket list. Oh, it’s also got an excellent fish & chip shop which I frequented a few times too many

Unfortunately I’m unable to go to St. Andrew’s for the Open but I’m going up in August which will be my 2nd time there. I was totally blown away with place, both town & golf course, on my first visit and the people are all genuinely friendly. This video sums up St. Andrews and I’d say to anyone visiting to go fully explore the town as there’s so much to see (even if not all golf related). Love this video, thanks Iona 👍⛳️🏌🏼♂️

Great Iona. Lovely to see you with Len the lefty. If only I opened the face a little more and swing a bit faster I'll get myself out of here.

Felt the magic at the Vatican of golf: 1993 7:00 AM. I arranged a friend to drive me out there (and leave), just walked on and was put on the standbye list. I was a student, played at 09:00 AM with 2 Americans who had Caddies, brought my half set with a PING 1-iron, broke 90 and parred 17 and 18. The travel back by train to Edinburgh I do not remember. I parred 17, I parred 17 ! I was still thinking...and... I walked where the all the greatest golfers in the world walked. Magical.

Excellent work and content. The camera work and thought that has gone into the narrative are a joy. The videographer needs to find a way of illuminating your face when it's in shadow. He or she can adjust for it but thatmight over expose the background. A reflector might be too much hassle if you are trying to get the job done quickly. An led diffuser lamp on top of the camera would do it and he could dial the power up or down. The films would really benefit from larger close ups of faces and your face! That too might also improve the under exposure issue. Most people will view on small devices...so even a medium shot can be a long way with you barely visible. The narration and the golf ⛳️ is sublime!

You can't be serious, this course is obsolete and if it isn't windy it's getting it's pants pulled down. It could get embarrassing for the R&A for producing a seriously dull Open, even by the usual St Andrews standards of boring.

@@shane5752 Thats a shit reason for holding a major there. Prestwick held the first Open, bit that's not on the rota, nor is Musselburgh . You wouldn't hold the World Cup final at Turf Moor because it has history. Sport is about entertainment, and the history of the town has no bearing on that.
