You really gotta quit using that lgbtq-whatever term. By using that, you only agree with the idea of straight people that we are different than them and that they are "the normal" and that we are "the alternate". Besides, transgenders have nothing to do with homo-/bisexuality. By using that term you are trowing transgenders and homo-/bisexual people under the same label. Just think about it. Rainbow flags shouldn't be a thing either, just like gay bars or gay hotels or whatever. You are doing nothing but dividing us as different people then people who are attracted to the opposite gender, AKA straight people. We are all just human beings and that is the only relevant thing. The only thing that matters.

@@teddydolance2574 Those are litterally your words. I never said any of that. I said that whatever someone's sexuality is, it shouldn't matter. When someone is gay, people almost always mention it. That is never the case when someone is straight. Why? Because people still treat and see the heterosexuals as "the normal", which is abnormal. That is all I am saying and the louder we scream around that we are gay, the more the straight people will see us as different, which we aren't.
@teddydolance25743 жыл бұрын
@@ahsadmirer6825 how do we fight for our rights without a group or having a term. We are different from straight people but that doesn't mean we are any less than straight people. I agree with u that we should be considered equal but that isn't the reality we are still oppressed.( In some countries we are literally killed or stoned to death for being us, in my country we could be jailed for three years). So we have to fight for our rights to be able to reach that day when we are considered equal. Women didn't reserved their rights naturally with being silent, they fought for it under the name of women's rights and feminism back in the 1910s, 60s and 80s. Also transgender people are in the LGBTQ+ community not because they're same with gays or lesbians because they're equally oppressed or sometimes worse than us(u kinda sounded transphobic, do better). LGBTQ community exist not because we consider ourselves superior or inferior but because straight people think we're inferior. TL;DR :Yea we know we're all equally humans but straight people don't so we had to group together to fight for our rights. (Sorry if my English is confusing, not my first language)

Without LGBTQ community I wouldn't be replying your comment by now cuz I would've been dead long time ago.

It’s funny because one of my grandparents friends (who also happens to be the mother of one of my classmates from high school) Ann Simonton, was the first originator of the meat dress. She was a a radical feminist who protested the Miss California pageants (which used to be held in our town, Santa Cruz, CA) and wore several meat dresses in the early-mid 80s. Per her Wiki page: “ In the 1980s, she and Nikki Craft led the ‘Myth California’ protests, a series of counter-pageants which accused the Miss California pageant of contributing to ‘the objectification of women and the glorification of the beauty myth.’ Simonton wore various meat outfits in these protests: one of baloney in 1982, skirt steak in 1985, and turkey slices in 1987.”

I hate it when people say the meaning of the meat dress it's a stretch, it is Absolutely not a stretch, they think like that because they are morons & barely scratched the surface, they make fun of her and say she wanted attention and then she backed it up with gays in the military not allowed to kill people in the middle east. Gaga Just wore it to fight for what she believes in, which is equality, DADT was a law that forced citizens out of their jobs JUST BECAUSE their sexuality, it doesn't matter it was the military, just the fact that law even existed was bizarre and showcased we're living in a homophobic state. She said that equality is the prime rib her country has to offer, and she wasn't get to enjoy it, so she wore it, it is even poetic. She addressed it in a speech called " The Prime Rib of America" in which she spoke directly to Obama to manifest her disgust. A shock act to society, a loud voice that yearns to be heard, i think this was an important part you missed, that speech helps to better understand her point of view about the statement. However, the fact that everyone can came up with a different interpretation is beautiful and reaffirms that it isn't just an iconic moment in pop culture, but it is also a piece of real art & a masterclass in how to brought up problems into pop culture without even say a word. you can make it a statement about how women are treated in this industry, then Adding the diamond necklace and jewelry to the actual meat dress further accentuates that message, as it represents how people just see women as glamorous dressed up inanimate meat that is only there for the viewer's pleasure. Then you can also made it a statement about the hypocrisy and double standards with the leather, veganism and animal cruelty, this is clearly showcased on how people react with an "ew" with the meat dress but then when living feral animals are used in a, for example, britney spears vma pop performance, they think it's ok. This dress is an actual piece of bizarre punk art brought to the mainstream by the one and only Lady Gaga

So yes, that was an iconic moment but it certainly was not the 1st time something like that had been done. Very few ideas are original and this idea had definitely been done before, just not by her. Its just a cool idea that she put her own spin on, but shes not a genius because of it.

Gaga's meat dress was a statement and a piece of art made by a designer from argentina with the meat of his family farm, the idea came from her makeup artist as she attended punk parties in the late 70's and saw some people wearing meat dresses as a sign of rebellion, she wore it as a protest for an award ceremony in the eye of the whole world when you're supposed to be modest pretty and sexy. It's genius.

@@inma5665 ok i was only saying it was something that had been done before, for whatever reason... I love Lady Gaga and everything she does, so thats awesome she did this meat clothes idea again and gave a giant back-story for her reasons why. But... As you said so yourself, it wasnt even her idea. lol It was her makeup artist friend's idea. So then wouldnt this said makeup artist be the genius? Also i dont kno think she was protesting not looking modest in a meat dress becuz she is and will always be pretty and sexy in whatever she wears. I believe she said she wore it becuz "If we dont stand up for what we believe in and if we dont fight for our rights, pretty soon we're gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones" - quote from Lady Gaga on Ellen about it

@@MrRustyTee it is not a "back-story" it was the reason she was wearing it, as she said it has many interpretation, but she just wore it that night in support of the abolition of DADT as she arrived with discharged members of the military by that law, made a speech elaborating in the meat dress and her thoughts against DADT called "The PRIME RIB of america" you should watch it. Yes, it wasn't her original idea, but she was the one who found purpose on it, took the risk and had the guts to wear it in such big event, the way she uses her platform is genius. she really was pretty and sexy? everyone thought it was disgusting and reacted with "ew", they even made fun of her because the gold feathers in her head with the McQueen outfit... she doesn't always look pretty and sexy, she always looked weird back in the day, they even said she was ugly.

@@inma5665 yo im completely aware of her position on DADT that nite too homie. And despite what everyone else was saying at the time, I will always consider one of the most beautiful people in the world inside and out in whatever shes wearing. So you can wrap up tryna school me.. Lol
@inma56653 жыл бұрын
@@MrRustyTee of course, i also think she's one of the most beautiful people in the world, i love the way she looked with her prosthetic horns in her face for example, but what i'm talking about is the archetype of pretty and sexy back in the day, it doesn't matter what you or i think, for everyone it was disgusting, scary, satanic, and she did it anyways, she's got the guts to do it no matter what everyone else would think, she just stays true to herself and fights for what she believes, that's bravery, and that's what i admire about her and that's why i said she's genius, the public misunderstood her back in the day.

That message was not at all obvious and pretty frustrating for those who care about animal rights...if we don't stand up for what we believe in we'll have as few rights as meat / animals...so it's just a given that animals have no rights because they can't stand up for themselves and that's fine? Really incongruous. There is no logical link between the aesthetic and the cause of LGBTQ rights either. She was always on the brink of being interesting but always fell short imo. If she'd just said women are treated like pieces of meat it would still be a little on the nose but at least that would have made sense. Even back then I always saw her as an idiot's idea of a deep artist making an impactful statement, her costumes were interesting but her music was generic pop and she never presented as anything but a conventionally attractive skinny white woman so what norms did she really challenge? Still I guess she's the hero we deserve in such a superficial alienated culture

Sorry but her explanation about the meat dress was so lack of meaning. I think It was a very cruel and gross dress. You don't need to use REAL meat to send that message.Awful, poor animals.
