I don't wear anything else but Genuine Levis and Wrangler when it comes to denim...I wouldn't wear anything else. I live 30 minutes away from my house to the Levis factory in San Francisco CA where they make this jeans, these 2 brand named jeans ARE THE BEST....

I think maybe you need to go take a look at the tags in the 501's for country of manufacture. They make some signature jeans in the US still but most are not made in the US including the 501's pictured, IF they are even genuine Levis. Levi headquarters may be in SF but that's not where the vast majority of their jeans are made. As far as I know they only have the Cotton Hill, NC factory open as a token gesture to make selvedge jeans for marketing purposes and those cost around $180 a pair.

Technically, US manufactured Levi's are only 1% of the total numbers (the other 99% are manufactured in other countries). So the information in this video is limited when it comes to distinguished original products.

Those are new levis, made overseas. Completely different from vintage Levis. The nylon care tag is a dead give away. And the patch on the back doesn't say made in USA.

I think its a fake, since the leather logo differs from original, usually the control number is a 4 digit number I believe.

+Azhar 9. Back in my student days, we used to stub our cigarettes out against our Levi's rather than look for an ashtray, but the modern Levi's scorch. A friend of ours mentioned that when the cherry fell off his cigarette, he rubbed it out against his 24oz Japanese jeans and it did not even leave a mark on them. Would you expect your Japanese jeans to be tough enough to withstand embers from a cigarette.?

Correct. Some real Levi's manufacturers produce poor quality products (as we know, Levi's are manufactured in many countries in the world). But most (99%) fake Levi's jeans are of bad quality

Very true. The way that they have worn and faded shows that they are real. People focus on fine details, but forget that minor differences exist between factories for various reasons. Sometimes workers are not told which thread to use on a particular label and on other occasions a particular item may have been substituted from a different design, just because stocks of the correct item have run out and they did not want to stop production..

+Jason McDonald Depends on where the jeans were made and when. Most Levi's produced in the states have 501 and the size printed in black but I have noticed some printed in red. The same goes for outsourced Levi's.

These maybe genuine modern day 501s. But the quality is very poor. Today`s Levi 501s are made in sweat factories in countries like Egypt or Turkey. If you want a real pair of the original 501s, it states MADE IN USA above the size numbers on the red badge above the pocket. On the inner white label it will have the red levi logo and it will state MADE IN USA. The label should be written in English only. THESE ARE THE ORIGINAL HIGH QUALITY LEVI 501s,but they are hard to find and most are probably discontinued. I always wore 501s in the 1990s in my 20s,they were brilliant jeans,last 4 to 6 years no problem. Pit they make shite jeans today

The control number is a designation for country/plant of origin. The stamp on the back of the first button needs to match what’s on the inside tag

these are not the original 501's that i know .But they could be the "current" model. the fabric is prewashed, not original 501's . the label is not heavy leather from the past. the lettering is inconsistent. so they are basically just a cheap pair of walmart mass production wannabe 501's. they will not last as long, might as well get a knockoff
