and here i am wondering how barnes went from this to deep growls
@fuji91047 жыл бұрын
He actually mentioned in the CC documentary that because Cannibal Song was only getting more heavy and agressive he figures the only way his voice would work is by blending in their style. If you hear Skull Full of Maggots from the demo to the version in Eaten Back to Life you can notice guitas/bass are tuned lower as well.

how did he even learn how to do it? i can do it but it sounds ass
@fuji91047 жыл бұрын
Don't be discouraged if it sounds bad RIGHT NOW, starting point is always rough for everyone, specially if you're young and the voice hasn't completely come through right yet. There's no formal education for this style of singing but if you're doing it properly you should feel like something is "stuck" around your throat. Because it's a head only style, practicing will be the difference between the night and day and a lot faster than normal singing might be. Avoid moving your tongue too much if you're just starting because that will help the death growl come out cleaner, then after that move to pronunciation so you can actually sing the words. Just doing growls at the start will be a lot easier to get used to it. That's how I learned anyway, nobody ever helped me and I can do it legit well nowadays. You can probably youtube some tutorials as well. Just don't smoke anything, not cigarette, weed or w/e, because that will make this ten thousand times harder.

it sounds really bad unless i put my tongue to the roof of my mouth (doesnt sound like that crappy "guttural" that deathcore bands do when they put their tongue there)
@gwennnnnnnnnnnn7 жыл бұрын
even then it still sounds pretty bad

chris barnes was in Tirant Sin (now cannibal corpse) before Leviathan, he eventually quit tirant sin, and joined Leviathan, then Leviathan eventually broke up, then barnes went back to tirant Sin, then joined forces with beyond death, creating cannibal corpse

He should try going back to a similar thrash style since his death voice is blown out.

It was a big deal if your drummer could keep a thrash beat going for more than 45 seconds, that made you an acceptable band. This is cool, amateurish is some parts but has the spirit.

No, no ,no! Just because it's "heavier", it doesn't have nearly as menacing as a sound as thrash. With death the vocalists tend to growl, and the guitar tends to play more straight up chords, blast beats and bass that mimics the guitar. Thrash has higher vocals which have that demon shrieking feel, drums are more memorable and are more imaginative, bass has a little bit more individuality, overall if there's any supreme metal its thrash.
