For a simple return/rehearsal in GP7: Press 'D' (or Bar > Directions) and put 'Dal Segno' (meaning: "repeated from the point marked by a sign") where it should 'Jump' Then, where you want the repeated section to start, press D again, and place the corresponding singular 'S- shaped' symbol as the 'Target' Should repeat once and then continue. Thanks Levi!

Good video for providing a quick overview of how these "directions" work. Thanks for putting this together. One thing i did not see was using Direction with repeat sections. For future viewers that watch this presentation, be aware that some of directions do not honor the repeat operator. i.e. If you use D.S. al Fine to jump back to a bridge that has a repeat at the end of the bridge, if you place the Fine at the end of the bridge, GP will end the score at the Fine BEFORE the repeat operator is activated, thus only playing the bridge once instead of twice. So just be aware that repeat operators and directions may not act as indicated in GP. Still got a few bugs to clean up. :-)

Well, I've learned the meaning of "Da Capo al fine" at the age of seven or so. And now - more than 40 years later - I know the rest. Thank You very much. Despite having read the GP manuals and the one or other book on notation I've never really recognized how those directions actually work.

Thank you so much for your video man! Extremely useful. However, I thing that signs are a little outdated, since paper and ink is not a problem any more and people have much less time to dig into something compicated and non-linear. Also, some modern music uses customized parts (dunno how to correctly say) which makes reusage unuseful. Still, your video helps a lot to learn how to use that instrument! :)

How do we add double end marks (two vertical strokes) in a composition's bars such as the ones that end the composition or are we stuck with only using one to show the end of verses, chorus, etc?
@glasgowguitarist36367 жыл бұрын
Hi levi, how do you normally handle the situation where different instruments have different parts throughout the structure. Say the bass plays the same riff in verses 1 and 2 but gtr 1 plays a variation of the riff in the second verse and gtr 2 only plays in verse 2. The most efficient way would be a repeat mark for bass, two fully noted verses for gtr 1 and a second time only marking for gtr 2. The actual song structure would be the same for everyone but the amount of reading and printing/scrolling would be significantly less than writing the full structure longhand. I can't see any way to do this in GP. Am I missing some magic secret sauce?

Glasgow Guitarist I wish he’d answer this! This is the main reason I avoid use repeats.

Can you tell us more simply, just using 4 or 5 bars? It would be so useful, helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for the great info. I’m trying to get my section marks to be the bar numbers instead of letters. Any ideas?

Chris DeChiara you can kind of do it - in the text styles you can make it so small you can’t see them

Hey Levi; Does GPro 7.5 take in signal from a Roland type 13 pin guitar synth output/MIDI to write score from playing guitar? I have the ROland GR20, GR55 and GP10, which have MIDI out...

Good video, you helped me a lot! Thanks for that. And now please go and learn to say "da segno" correctly (duh sanio), lol.
@luigipati38155 жыл бұрын
'Dal Segno', not 'Da Segno'. Not your fault, of course....it's written wrong in the program. 'Da Segno' is grammatically incorrect, but I can live with that, what I cannot live with is the really bland 'manual' GP has. It's basically a text file written in a rush.
