Richard Manuel is in the audience, and sings 'The Shape I'm In' in set two.

What an absolute pleasure. Saw (most of) this lineup at the Stanhope House in New Jersey a few times and this takes me back. 2 full sets to a small club after being at the top of the music food chain, the guy had more integrity than most of his contemporaries. Helm is to this day a huge musical influence.

Love his version of Whole Lotta Shaking Going On. It’s on a KZbin video of an early 80’s Ronnie Hawkins show. I think that he actually outdid The Killer himself.

They all were. All were talented, without Robbie writing the songs, there wouldn't be many songs to sing. However, without Richard, Levon and Rick (my favorite, not to take away from the others) the songs would not be the same, and without Garth and his musical genius again it would not be the same.

Funny, I have heard pocket recordings off of a walkman, but never something this clear. Having seen The Band at the Getaway during these days, I can recall that less than 50 people would be in attendance at this little bar. Afterwards, the band would enjoy a beverage with the remaining patrons. So glad this is properly recorded. Thank you!

There’s a KZbin video of a Ronnie Hawkins show where Szelest plays “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On”. It’s unbelievable. I honestly believe that he cut The Killer himself on that one. Szelest was one of the best piano players that I’ve ever heard. Died way too young.
