IM vs NM i expected a wash, but Canty really played very well. He seems to be stronger than your typical NM.

@@MK-xs5gd ??? He winked because he knew people were watching the match. It’s like waving to fans in a stadium, it has nothing to do with flexing on his opponent. Besides, winking does not take much brain power to do. Unless you have some sort of issue with controlling the muscles in your face, winking would not break anyone’s focus.

He's so arrogant and toxic on his streams for a 2300 level player - he also played terribly in this match, disrespecting his opponent by playing the Trompowksy and bad openings, like Naka even mentioned on his stream.

Levy looking into the camera with that Rozman Stare at 2:30:24 is the essence of GothamChess. Lose the long games early, so your opponent doesn't speed up until it is too late. Absolute 4D big brain move. The necessary raw calculation speed shifting will cause your opponent to stress. Levy was never actually in time trouble it seems.

I was worried after watching the disastrous Botez vs. Shahade video that the matches with the non-IMs would all be similarly boring, but I must say this was a great match between two very evenly matched opponents. Very fun to watch with some great games on both sides. I'll have to check out Mr. Canty's stream some time.

ROBERT HESS, excellent commentary and I learn so so much from Levy and Canty. I have no idea how you say the chess positions so quickly, I have no idea how SEE, and then you contemplate so many moves So Quickly. I love these guys as teachers, and ROBERT, so so smart. there is more harm than good to cheat on a second screen in 3+1 and 1+1 because of time of course, but otherwise it is just pure reputation carrying it with their titles.
