Hi Daniel, I watched this speed run game on stream and found it one of the best ones that you’ve done. I just wanted to say thank you for all the content that you do; it’s safe to say that you are the best teacher (of any subject) that I’ve ever had. I’ve recently bought the Jobava course, and although only 8 hours in, I am absolutely loving some of the lines, and can’t wait to start using it in my games once I’ve covered a bit more of it. Furthermore, I’ve just started a new job teaching chess over the summer while I’m at home from university, and I attribute getting this job mainly down to your inspiring teaching, and a desire to do what I can to emulate that to my own students (albeit at a far lower level). Thanks again, Andrew

This is easily my favorite chess channel on KZbin! The logic with which he plays each move is simply astounding! Yes, chess is complicated, but given how *Danya* explains the rationale for each move, the game is also quite enjoyable! (try analyzing out loud with the clock ticking!) Also, he's an amazing chess commentator, my favorite, along with *Tanya* (as well as David Howell and Peter Leko)! All of them give chess a good name!

Thank you so much for the game, Danya! It's a huge honor to be broken down into (chess) pieces by you. You are an amazing chess teacher and an incredibly entertaining content creator. You helped my chess a lot. Please continue being so great! I need to take a closer look into the lines with an early c5. I don't think I've ever faced this exact line after move 3 or 4. Even though I ended up with almost all my pieces in the corner, I'm not really unhappy with my game. Very instructive destruction. I only started playing the London a few months ago, after playing exclusively e4 before. I really appreciate the London (tributes to Alex Banzea for his London course on chessable), and I hope this game will help me to become a better London player. Thank you Danya, you are amazing!

One of the most instructive chess video's I've seen in a long time! As an avid London player, I've once faced this line as white, I panicked after cxd4 and retreated with my f4 bishop to c1 in order to protect b2. Fortunately my opponent mishandled the position, but knowing Nc3 or Na3 even exist makes me feel like I've immediately gained 50 ELO points. Thanks Daniel!

Making play tactical when you are positionally losing has a probabilistic interpretation. If the expected value of your distribution is negative, at least, try to increase its variance so that you have a hope to end up in positive territory.

Hi Danya, question on the chess in the video I play the slav - between moves ...12-14 I was wanting to play the typical slav knight rotation of Ne7 Nf5 (meeting Bg5 with Ne5). Im wondering if was this not considered or if there was a specific reason you didn't like it? (my engine thinks it's somewhat equivalent to the continuation played)

Put pieces not pawns on weak squares In closed positions, the value of a tempo diminishes (more time to do quiet moves) Don't be afraid of maneuvering pieces / backward moves When losing, make it tactical, to put opponent in an incomfortable position and increase your chances Chose moves that maintain flexibility Man. Danya droping those concepts for free and with games to back up. I'm loving it! You'd think those concepts should be obvious, but applying them in a game is not. Sometimes you need to listen to someone tell it to you to internalize it better.

Hello Daniel! I'd like to make a suggestion: 1. When you give us a positional idea (such as "making a move that doesn't damage our position") it would be marvelous if you could show what that idea would look like *for the opponent*. Something like "if we apply that same idea for white, the natural positional moves could be 1... 2... 3... etc" Thank you for the amazing video as always :)

This is also my favorite line in the Indian Defence against the Accelerated London. Fairly straightforward, gets White into un-London-esque positions and actively fights for equality / an advantage. What I was curious about was you castling so quickly. The prospect of g4 followed by Nh4 came to my mind, the center was glued shut and in my opinion ideas like b5, Na5, Nc4 (in the spirit of the exchange Slav) before White gets the time to slam the queenside shut with b4 (which White played and that basically stopped all queenside counterplay) were more urgent. And of course with the king in the center, Nxg6, hxg6 opens up the Black rook on h8 with a terrifying position for White. Also when you played Nb8, have you considered Ne7? I was looking at that move and quite liked it. Prospects of knife f5 or Ng6 with a very comfortable position. I ain‘t a GM, and I‘m conscious that Black‘s position was perfect and basically every move won, but some insight would be appreciated.

Edit: Oh my goodness, he mentions the caro like two seconds later, and Bg4 is a move in the Gotham course. Really plugging for levy here. 7:23 I noticed that this position looks like the exchange caro khan with the pawn trade, and white's pieces are positioned similarly to how the exchanged version looks, but black's pieces are not. Is there a way to play this in order to force a caro khan with Black's pieces played more in that way? (The king's Indian style that you mentioned appears to be like that, in accordance with the Gotham Chess exchanged caro khan course, but I want to see what you say, Daniel.) I analyzed it a bit and it seems like it's black that has to play correctly to hold his position together but then the line only leads to a draw (I had help with the engine) after some correct moves on both sides. Seems like it can be used as a drawing weapon for white, not really cool with that but still okay btw Cool system with 2... c5 tho, loved the video and your insights.
