How about Falcon? 😂 I still use Lew’s reel but switch all of my rods to Falcon
@MJ-1981 Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the info, especially the Lews product reviews. TP1 Black is amazing value, I have two Hypermags and a Pro TI I use with them. Just bought a Custom Lite Speed stick on clearance to compare the two.

Nice! Those hypermags are my favorite

I bought a Lew's rod a while ago and the last eyelit has broke off for the 2nd time after I got it replaced kinda bummed out. Starting the think ugly stiks are better
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing2 жыл бұрын
Ugly sticks are definitely more durable, probably lack in sensitivity though. I have switched all my rods to Falcon. Nothing wrong with Lew’s, Falcons are just lighter with better balance.

Finally!!! A review that say more than “the color is sick” or “it have a nice action” (without any other description of what this action is) and “great backbone”. THANK YOU for this real over view of Lew’s technology! New sub here. I’m always fishing straight braid or braid to leader, so I hate these microwave guides (connection knot always get stuck in these micro guides! Can you tell me which of these rods have nice “big” (knot friendly) guides: TP1X, Mach and Custom (the fancy all black one)? Thanks in advance.

Thanks! Glad I could help - and agree with you. The pros are the worst rod reviewers. The new TP1X and Custom have standard guides so you should be fine with either of those - I just looked at them to verify. I don’t have any Mach rods but I know they removed microwave guides on Mach rods and Mach 2 doesn’t have them either. Only rods I would avoid would be KVD rods (micro guides) and TP1 black (microwave guides). Hope that helps. Good Luck!

That help a lot. Thanks !! REALLY appreciate that you took time to check and answer. Ok now, I’m looking to buy a rod to light flipping, throw some swim bait /glide bait (1-1.5oz hard baits) and small A-Rig. What would be your suggestions? One rod. Is a Carolina Rig rod will be good (I like a medium-ish fast action or at least a “not too fast” action for this) or a flipping rod will be best? I know that sometimes to have a “not too fast” rod you better choose a “lesser grade” carbon blank which will slow down things...

For a-rigs and big swimbaits, I like a composite medium heavy moderate action rod - basically a crankbait rod. I use the KVD CC4. Before that I used the David fritts 7’11 which worked well too. It will require a little more hookset but you won’t lose them at the boat. For flipping, I like heavy fast action rod most of the time. I drop down to medium heavy fast for more finesse flipping. Hope that helps.

Thanks! For sure, it helps. 👍

I have 6 of the TP1 Black series on my boat from the 6 foot 8 topwater to the 7 foot 4 heavy flipping stick. In my opinion there's no better rods for what you get at the price point. I got all mine off amazon for 100 to 110 bucks. Not alot people are really going indept with Lews on KZbin so keep them coming. Thinking about doing a few myself. Good vid.

Great rods! Yeah, most vids are on Lew’s reels. Thanks for watching

When will the KVD and TP1X rods be available?
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing4 жыл бұрын
Should be any day now. Typically the new product hits shelves in October

Thanks man, good review. Does a particular rod come to mind for spinnerbaits? I’d like to lean more towards the shorter side for roll casts and in around trees. Thanks again, Blaine

Depends on your price range. They make a good 6’10 spinnerbait rod in the custom pro series for 1/2oz or lighter spinnerbaits. It doesn’t have much for backbone but soft forgiving tip and easy to put touch on your cast. Currently when I’m throwing heavier 3/4 and 1 oz spinnerbait I throw the KVD GC8 which is his 7’6 big spinnerbait rod. It’s not as easy to put touch on your cast because of length and weight of bait, but it has really soft tip with a good backbone. Guessing you throw more 1/2oz spinnerbaits? If so and the custom pro is out of your range let me know and I can recommend some others. Good luck

I was wondering about the 6’10 in the custom pro but saw the lure ratings high end was 5/8 and was concerned about it not having quite enough backbone. As for budget if I can find a good rod that’s sensitive (feel the blades turning & bites good) with a soft enough tip to let the fish get it good and enough backbone to handle a 1/2 ounce I’m willing to pay 2 to 2 1/2. But if I could get a good one for less that’s better! Usually throw 3/8 and 1/2 ounce for 6-8ft of water. Was looking at the 610 Zodious and Expride as well.

Yeah it is slightly under powered for 1/2 oz spinnerbaits in my opinion. Honestly I would recommend the falcon cara “head turner” rod which bridges the gap between heavy and light spinnerbaits. Has great backbone and soft tip.. plus the king of spinnerbaits, Christie uses it so you know what it’s built for.

@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing thanks man I sure will. Thanks and tight lines!

Just my opinion. Lews might want to think about putting better guides on their rods!!!
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think it’s a way to save cost on lower end rods and still have Winn grips. Just a guess, not sure though. I’ve made the switch to Falcon. Still use KVD rods on several baits though

@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing I'm only one way. Either the rod is worth the price, OR it's junk. Just bought an ABU/GARCIA rod for around 180 bucks. If it holds up, I will buy more. So far, I'm really impressed!
