I think more drivers will get closer in the future. Schumacher won 7 titles in an era when you had a bunch of different tams able to fight for wins and titles, costs were lower too. One year it was McLaren, then Williams, then Benetton, then Mclaren again, then Ferrari, most drivers just had one chance to win the title. Now you have dominant teams all the time because the others can't get close.

The only evidence people who won't admit Lewis is a great driver is their feelings. Feelings don't standup to facts:. 1. When you keep composure all weekend, don't spin ONCE through practice, quali and race when Everyone one else does. A slippery and then very wet track at that. 2. Keeping composed as you get overtaken early in the race 3. Running same tyres for 48 laps and getting a dozen fastest laps in 4. Being in tune with your car and track as well as Lewis did to decide to extend his stint. 5. Lapping Bottas was just a bonus 6. Winning with a 30 second lead to everyone when in the beginning the top 4 had full pit stop gaps to Lewis. I would welcome any hater with real facts and not how "they feel" or "should've/could've" nonsense to put through their arguments how Lewis isn't a master of racing.

Hamilton no longer has that raw speed that he had in his youth, we now see that raw talent in Verstappen or Leclerc. He has evolved so much in a sense that he reads and understands the car as well as tyres unlike any other driver. We saw this in Portimao. This race wasn't won by sheer speed, it was won by his race craft, he read the situations that arose so well and adapted to them. Different kinda champ!
@niroshan75214 жыл бұрын
It’s not that he lost his raw speed, it’s still in him and only that its no longer required as his Team Mercedes is the best car in the grid and Hamilton didn’t have any need to push them unlike Verstappen or Leclerc and moreover like you said Hamilton evolved into a more complete driver and mastered his Racecraft over the years when compared to his younger years and also that he clearly mentioned before that F1 now is more of a battle of tyre management and he told he always desired to push the car into extreme potential but due to these Pirelli tyres somehow curbed his instinctive driving style but on a given day in a equal car a Prime Hamilton is almost untouchable only person I would say can beat him is none other than Legend Ayrton Senna
@gvm01164 жыл бұрын
He still has the raw speed. His qualifying results speak of that (vs his teammate, first and foremost). It's just that he has evolved into a very complete racing driver. He shows his speed when needed. He maintains a safe distance when leading to preserve the tires and cover any form of undercut. If an overtake is not possible at a given moment, he patiently waits until an opportunity is presented to him and takes advantage of it once the door is open.

Imagine if today he got his 8th world title. Such a legend he is and soon he will have that 8th title. He deserves it more than anyone else. That includes, Russel, Leclerc, even Verstappen.

Fantastic news, a gentlemen driver, who got there without unfair, bad, or overly aggressive driving ! The greatest F1 driver of all time !!
@cinegraphics4 жыл бұрын
Now, that's not quite true. There are lots of examples where he wasn't quite gentleman, where he didn't return the place he got dishonestly, or where he wasn't penalized where all other drivers would be. Not to mention having the fastest and grippiest car in history for 7 seasons in a row. Any competent driver in that car would have 6 or 7 WDCs.

P3 was decided just few seconds earlier before the race finish. Many memorable moments.. Also some nostalgia to see Ham and Seb on Podium. Well deserved win..

How can people doubt his greatness after this drive? The Merc was not fastest today. Not by a long shot. How the he'll did he get those tyres to last that long. The most successful driver of all time. Even if you don't like him you have to appreciate his consistency and greatness. Just enjoy it while it lasts. He won't he around for long.
