It is unbelievable how much more protected drivers of today are. Can almost guarantee Senna and many others would not have been lost to racing had they had some of today’s technology. Their losses collectively have allowed and made racing as safe as it is today. May they never be forgotten.
@TSP-HIKER2 ай бұрын
Au contraire... Sennas misfortune came with the added technology in the cars. Before, he was the one driving the car. Now there was something between him and the car. An added distance in the feel of the car. He got killed as the cars became less and less driver dependent. Todays F1 is the most boring thing ever. I stopped watching in the late 90s and haven't regretted a single minute. Rally is almost last man standing in real racing in 2024. Shame.
@joshuaarandt24482 ай бұрын
It is not unbelievable friend, it's due to the hard work and commitment of drivers just like Senna (a strong proponent of safety during his time) that cars, and circuits, are as safe as they are today, and that more lives haven't been sacrificed to do so - with the exception of Jules. Another reason why many consider him the greatest: his legacy grows
@kurtisduke26852 ай бұрын
@@TSP-HIKER actually senna's death was cause by the FIA's late banning of that active suspension that the Williams and all other cars had been designed around had the active suspension still been in use then senna hitting the bump at tamberrelo wouldn't have been a problem.
@h3llr4iser12 ай бұрын
@@TSP-HIKER That is not correct; 1994 was a disaster of a season in terms of safety exactly because of the opposite - after many years of out-of-control electronic driver aids, culminating in the 1992/1993 seasons with cars that are, still today, the most advanced ever seen on track in terms of automation and technology, the FIA decided to ban all driver aids point-blank and with very little warning at the end of 1993. This resulted in most of the 1994 cars, which were either derivatives of the previous years chassis or designed around all the electronic automation, to become unstable, unpredictable and borderline undriveable. It resulted in two drivers getting killed and six badly injured during the course of the season. The problems Senna was having with the Williams at the beginning of the season stemmed exactly from that - the chassis had been designed around the absolutely phenomenal active suspension system they ran in 1992 and 1993; With a conventional suspension, the car was undriveable - even for Ayrton, which kinda says it all...

Great to see Viviene there , also the iconic Marlboro McLaren (doesn't look as good without the advertisement ) But the noise reminds me of my days at Silverstone in the late 80's-90's Love it , buzzing at the memories of seeing Ayrton go round Silverstone

8:50 That happy grandpa must have feel 30 years younger at the moment, looking Senna's car driven like that must've been a hell of nostalgic in this decade. Legend will always be remembered.
