Hard to compare raw talent across generations when debating the goat, but 4 major things stand in lewis’s favour for claim to that title. 1 - statistics, they dont lie. 2 - the duration of his time at the top, matched only by schumacher, 3 - the calibre of his opponents, matched only by prost, 4 - his sense of honour and stature as a good role model

McLaren's titlefights in 2007 and 2008 were strongly influenced by them having confidential data from Ferrari. The factual events were 1 mclaren and 1 ferrari engineer stealing data from both teams to wager with a 3rd team which was never revealed. There was very little impact on the performance of the McLarens and the engineers involved were banned, this did not reach far into the mclaren set up hence why Ron Dennis wasnt banned (unlike say Briatorie who was for his role in crash gate). For added context, Hamilton was locked in a tight championship battle with Vettel, I believe they were tied on points entering this round of the championship. The fact that he gave back the position to Valteri showed everything there was to show about how Mercedes allowed both their drivers to be on equal footing while both had a realistic shot at the championship. In sharp contrast to Red Bull (and previously Ferrari) treats its drivers.

Just another example of Merc dominated the Constructors and not just the Drivers championship. All well and good having a fast car but you need temperament, trust and respect between teammates when it's clear that you're not racing against each other. Also enjoyed Merc letting Nico & Lewis go at it hammer and tongs for the wins...difference there was the cars were over and beyond everyone else's and the golden rule was bring both cars home. Max's teammates can't race him, and Lando finally has one worth challenging him. LeClerc-Sainz would provide great internal battles too if they had a better car underneath them

@@walt0078 When was the last time Max won a race by 25-30 seconds? Must have been the first race of 2024 or something. Max literally won the current championship with an inferior car. Lewis had so many 20+ & 30+ second wins too when Merc was dominating and his teammate was Bottas. Only reason Button & Rosberg gave Lewis a tough fight was that Lewis wasn't very consistent and made many errors. Max would have obliterated Button & Rosberg. Button was barely faster than a declining Barrichello. Rosberg couldn’t outpace a 43 year old washed Schumacher in 2012. Besides Rosberg beat Hamilton in 2016 despite being team ordered to let Hamilton pass in Monaco that same year lol Max had Sainz & Ricciardo. Besides it's funny how Max' supposedly "bad" teammates keep kicking ass when they aren’t Max' teammates. Almost like Max is just on a different level. Hamilton's teammate during his last 4 championship wins couldn't even beat Guanyu Zhou in equal machinery and scored 0 points this year 😭
