I adore Pat Phoenix! To see these is worth so much! She honestly just makes me smile God rest her soul! From her beautiful dagger collars to her strong personality, Pat was irreplaceable as Elsie Tanner in Coronation Street. To me, after she left in 1984, I didn't feel the temptation to watch any further. Her, Annie, & Ena were my three favourites with Elsie of course at the top! Bless em all!

This was 1985 but Pat died in 1986. Remarkable lady & a very talented but underrated actress.

Excellent post, it's always great to see Pat Pheonix in interviews, she loved doing them and she was very good at it. Her charming personality comes right across

She' was like a great elegant liner hoving into view across New York harbour. The Margaret Thatcher of the Granada brickscapes.

I would love to have met her but I was born 11 years after she passed away

She was brilliant, ably supported by adoring husband here. Pat Phoenix or Elsie Tanner RIP.

Mischievous comment from Pat Phoenix about wigs at the start of the interview...note Wogan quickly hurrying the conversation on...he was famously sensitive about his toupees in the 80s. It was thought he had three/four of varying lengths that he rotated over a couple of weeks to simulate his hair growing and then being cut.

She may have already had lung cancer by the time this was recorded but was not yet diagnosed - she was a *VERY* heavy smoker - 60 a day

Almost certainly

You can tell she’s breathless when she first comes out but she’s hiding it bless her, that’s the British stiff upper lip approach.

Hi could you upload anymore of pat & Tony?

She would have turned in her grave knowing her husband had met courted and married again so soon.. He never married for love that's plain to see.

A pretty unkind comment tbh. Pat Phoenix doesn't seem like the kind of person who would have wanted her husband moping around for years after her death. She might well have said to him to move on and enjoy himself with her blessing.
