Had a converted T6 a few months now and love it to bits. Have to admit though, with all the facilities it provides, storage space is an absolute premium and I've got the LWB. I was never a fan of the forward facing Rock n Roll beds so I have a different layout with a wraparound sofa-bed affair which makes the rear look far more roomy and airy. As for the price of these things? Yes, they're expensive (mine was £40K) but they're built to last, drive like a car, retain their value and the number you see on the road suggests that the image/kudos of these vehicles is well established with demand keeping prices high.
@LewisVonJohn6 жыл бұрын
+David Carter I think I've seen the layout your talking about. I didn't for it as I don't think my dog could turn around in that space. If you look after the camper it should hold value well.

Mine was converted by a company called Imperial Car Centre based in Scunthorpe. It's their own design and they use it for most of their conversions. Not looking to part with it anytime soon... unless I buy another one that is :-)

I drove the van with a 102 BHP but it's horrible in the mountains with a lot of gear if have to agree there is a bit of torch but overtaking people in Germany driving 140kmph driving up a mountain is an absolute nightmare there is just no more power to give. Now got my new T6 with DSG transmission with 204 BHP with 4 motion and super happy with it what a beast. It's totally worth the money and there is so much power

Automatic Roof, Car Type finish in the front. No oven / Grill tho, and you RGB lights looks great. btw I think your bench seat spins round better than my two singles!.

Mine is 180 bhp , I’ve driven the 102 bhp...worlds apart ...not just to can’t around lol...but pulls better and less effort , I’d suggest you chipped to 140 though ...better on fuel and really nice noticeable drive mate . Give it a go , get back to me if you do . Nice van 👌
@LewisVonJohn5 жыл бұрын
My plumber mate had the 180bhp and I tested the 204bhp before this. Yes, 100% much quicker. But I knew I'd be sitting in traffic in London most days, and there are literally 3 hills total of any decent gradient to climb. So I barely touch 4th, let alone 5th or 6th if I had it. It's better MPG than my Dodge Ram SRT-10, which was a 8.3 litre V10. So I'm happy with the 102bhp. If I didnt live in London and wasnt sitting in traffic most days, I'd get the 180 or 204.

Does it fit in the garage? Can another seat belt be fitted on the front passenger seat for a child? And can seat belts be added on the back section so this vehicle could seat 7 people? Lewis when I ordered my Kombi sadly i did not have a removable tow bar factory fitted. You said that you had a after market one fitted by Status 1. My concern are I have reversing cam + censors and worry it could effect the working of those then I have a problem with my warranty. Do you have those fitted to your van ?
@LewisVonJohn6 жыл бұрын
+Robert Oxley hi Robert. You just need to make sure it's a swan neck tow bar so it doesn't interfere with the parking sensors. I would give Phil at Status 1 a call as they only use official VW installers. Mine took around 5 hours to install as it has to wired into the dash, so swivel seat came out, half the dash was on the floor etc, it's quite a big job to get it done properly.
@robertoxley49976 жыл бұрын
Hi Lewis, looked on Status 1 website couple of weeks ago, looks like a nice outfit. @darrenjones36816 жыл бұрын
Nice you could have had a webasto diesel fuelled heater they are similar to the type fitted in the California, you can have them running on thermostat, timer or even remotely operated by fob or mobile phone app link if you fit the extra module, they can be fitted under the van so you gain a little storage space, best of all they use very little fuel compared on gas units, and if you’re unlikely to be in a position where you find yourself with no fuel and no heat, you can use the timer, remote or app to warm up your van before you need to leave the house in winter as well,

Yes of course navigating roads in the UK with a 140+ BHP with a pendle remap etc it's a great drive but for comfort and space in relation to to a motor home it's ridiculous. I'm sure it also depends on the size of the motor home you where using to navigate the Scottish roads.
